Couldn’t believe my luck when I glassed in on this bloke. On the valley floor out of the bitter, blasting wind that’s been relentless for over the last week or so. I gasped and said to Luke, REDS ! Although I have seen a fair few that’s the first red deer I’ve shot on that property in 7 years, nothing has been good enough. Fair to say I’m bloody chuffed, can you tell ?
@luke_arlt Thanks with yer help carrying heavy stuff.
Saw a bunch fellas testing their vocal cords and not doing much about it, about a click away. Mapped out a plan in quite open country and tried to execute that plan. After the plan going the way it was supposed to I ended up using a large tuft of bamboo grass as cover with a couple of animals 230 metres away, but the angle downhill had changed and they were pretty much out of sight. With does crossing in front of me walking thru the saddle below I was stuck there. 45 minutes later I got the opportunity and I took it, then the bugger had to slide and roll a further 40 metres down didn’t he. Stocked, he’s a good deer.
I took a mate from Newcastle out to collect some meat to take home. We came across this awesome bloke full of fat, he’ll make some prime eating and a lovely velvet head toboot.
