What an unforgettable day at our 5th Annual Spring Fling! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, brought the energy, and helped make this event such a success. We’re incredibly grateful to all of our volunteers and everyone behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to bring this celebration to life. Special thanks to @deejayran for keeping the vibes going, The Steel Pan Ensemble of Orange (@uoforange ) for the amazing music, the 40+ Double Dutch Club (@40plus_doubledutchclub )for the incredible performance, our resident facepainting artist for adding creativity and fun to the day, and the petting zoo (@newjoyfarm ) for bringing smiles to all the kids and families. We also want to thank Councilman Crump, Councilman Kelly & the City of Newark for their continued support and partnership in carrying out our mission! University of Orange announces our 10th Annual Music City Festival in Orange, NJ – MUSIC CITY FESTIVAL 10 will take place on May 15th, 16th, and 17th and kicks off an eight month celebration of musical culture in Orange. Music City 10 will bring together the city’s musical community through three events spread across a weekend. The festival has long served as a gathering point for musicians and residents and continues to reflect the diversity and creativity of Orange. Festival-regular, Ro Beau, a singer-songwriter, said “you always feel a part of the city’s energy, like the music is bringing life to our city.” “This year we look forward to building on the past decade of our work together. This three-day event will serve as the opening moment for a broader series of musical performances and workshops in public spaces planned throughout the year,” says Douglas Farrand, Music City’s co-director. This years 10th anniversary programs are supported by an A.R.T. Phase II grant from the NJ Economic Development Authority, and the festival is supported by Nj Council for the Humanities as a part of 'By the People: Conversations Beyond 250'. May 15th, 16th, and 17th will feature over 17 performances from local and regional artists, including DJ Masta Blasta and Riddim Explosion on the Friday night, Orange Steel Band and Jhette on Saturday afternoon, and Young Picassos and Janetza on Sunday afternoon . Calling participants in MUSIC CITY programs from over the years! Old heads and newcomers alike! This Sunday we will be hosting our first Music Collab at the HUUB! We are calling this series "Resonance." This first one will be in partnership with Luna Stage as part of their Story Circle Series. We will gather at the Huub at 4pm for light refreshments and a time to chat. Then Luna will host a time to tell stories about our relationship to the city of Orange through musical experiences. We will end the time with improvised collaborative music making. We would love to have as many members of our larger MUSIC CITY Family there as possible. It will go until about 8pm. It is a great way for us to get together ahead of a promising year of music! Arrive early or late, drop in or stay the whole time.
