@jesssamess and my performance for @juliej.nyc STAND UP NYC, a benefit for our trans and drag siblings in Tennessee and beyond facing anti-queer legislation. We performed Laurie Anderson’s ā€œO Supermanā€ but remixed it with image and Jess’ sound to illustrate how European colonialism that is America has, from its inception, tried to eradicate queerness and gender variance and implemented it through its occupying government, laws, and police. But we have and will continue to be vigilant, bright, powerful, and beautiful. Video by @haohsangli ā¤ļøšŸ™šŸ¼

So excited to share installation and event photos of my drawing installation ā€œUntitled (Hanging Pheasants)ā€ shown as part of @somad.nyc group exhibition ā€œMad World: A Bag to Breathe Intoā€ up through June 13. The drawing is 22 x 30 inches and is one of the largest pieces I’ve done in the past few years. I started this piece in 2018 and took a long break from it, and returned to it several months ago. I drew flowers from my Mother’s garden, olive trees from Palestine, native flowers from my Fatherland: the Philippines. I drew hanging pheasants, which I learned from a British cooking show was a preparation to create better flavor. In my experience of this world there is no separation between beauty and darkness, destruction, violence, and death. It all comes in as a bombardment, as one continuous dense universe. I drew the pheasants feet and their hanging heads because I’d seen from a Vietnamese cooking show that a simmered chicken was used for ancestral worship, where the head represents the parents and the feet represents the children. The drawing is framed by metallic black shreds resembling nests, thatched roofs and walls, and as a memorial for the martyrs of Gaza, Sudan, Congo, Cuba, Iran, all casualties of colonialism. Thank you so much to @somad.nyc and @chrisrodriguez.pdf for installing with such care and excellence as well as curating a show addressing environmentalism and colonialism. IMAGE ID: 1. Untitled (Hanging Pheasants), 2026 Pen on paper 22 x 30 inches My latest drawing, one of the largest pieces I’ve done in awhile. This is for the martyrs of Gaza, Sudan, Congo, Cuba, Iran, all casualties of colonialism. Much love, solidarity, heart, and commitment to speak out, act out against these atrocities. IMAGE IDs Images 1-5 show a dense line pen drawing of layered flowers and pheasants hanging by black string.

Hi dear community, We are looking to raise money for our beloved family and friends who worked at Macri Park to make it our special queer home. Due to its sudden closure, we would like to support these folks to supplement this immediate loss of income. If you ever had a wondrous, wild night at Macri taking photos in their iconic bathrooms, drinking fun and cheap drinks with these amazing babes, and being kept safe, any donation would be so appreciated to help ease this transition. @jesssamess and I, and so many of our community has called this place home for over a decade. It truly was our favorite place, made so by our favorite people who worked there. Thanks for any help SHARING and DONATING. Fundraiser LINK IN BIO
