I have been a fan of Dickieâs since Dark Disabled Stories at The Public, and I am thrilled to now call him a friend!
Dickie Drew Hearts is an award-winning Deaf actor and film director amplifying Deaf, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC voices through American Sign Language onscreen. He created, wrote, directed, and co-starred in the independent rom-com pilot Passengers, currently in post-production. On TV, he played Mateoâhis first recurring role, in Netflixâs Tales of the City (2019), and appeared in Grace & Frankie (2017) and HBOâs High Maintenance (2020). On stage, he earned an Obie Award, and Lucille Lortel nomination, for The Public Theaterâs Dark Disabled Stories (2023). Hearts champions accessibility, ASL, and Deaf culture through storytelling.
