Today, 8th May 2025, we join the rest of the UK and colleagues around the world in commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day. In honour of all of those that served, and the VE Day generation, we've created a short blog highlighting just a tiny selection of the myriad stories connecting the end of WWII in Europe to UNESCO designations, inscriptions and notable figures. Link in bio. Image credits: 1. ©IWM 2.© Getty Images 3. © Associated Press / Alamy Stock Photo

Have you ever thought that you could have a career in quantum? 🧠 On #WorldQuantumDay, hear from Klara and Yashna about their journey into quantum computing. Spoiler, you don’t have to be a physicist to be in quantum! 🌌 From the universe to qubits, and from the infinitely large to infinite possibilities, listen to these physicists from the NQCC tell us how they became “entangled” in Quantum. 😉 #QuantumYear #IYQ2025 #QuantumFuture @quantumyear2025_

We wish the @agathafestival International Agatha Christie Festival a wonderful final weekend of events. The UK National Commission for UNESCO were delighted to offer @UNESCO patronage to this year's event, recognising Agatha Christie's status as a global literature icon. But, did you know that Agatha's home county of Devon contains more @UENSCO Designated Sites than any other county in the UK? It's home to @rivierageopark , @exetercityoflit , @jurassiccoastofficial @northdevonbiosphere and @cornishmining (part of this is in west Devon) The landscapes, towns and villages of this beautiful county provided Agatha Christie with a multitude of inspiration no doubt! (Main pic - Greenway, Agatha Christie's holiday home on the edge of the Dart Valley.) #literature #agathachristie #agathachristiebooks #unescouk #unesco #biospherereserve #globalgeopark #worldheritagesite #creativecities
