Join us this Thursday, April 30, for the final Bright Moments Spoken Word Night. Hosted by the brilliant spoken word artist @lyricalfaithpoetry , this last installment brings the same lively mix of open-mic poetry, DJ music, and poets from the national scene that has defined the series for the past three years, while also marking Lyrical Faith’s farewell as she prepares to graduate with her PhD.
Hailing from the Bronx, Lyrical Faith is an internationally recognized, award-winning poet, a three-time Women of the World Poetry Slam finalist, and the inaugural UMass Amherst W.E.B. Du Bois Center poet in residence.
This month’s featured artist is the acclaimed Detroit artist @arrielane , the 2023 Motown Mic Spoken Word Artist of the Year. Join us for one last gathering of voices and stories as we honor the artist and community that has made Bright Moments so special.

Join us for a special screening of The Horse of Jenin by Alaa Shehada this Sunday, April 19!
Presented as part of the 5-College Pan Asian Network Spring Conference, this humorous and moving solo work by Palestinian actor and comedian Alan Shehada blends humor and reflection in a deeply human performance.
The work is inspired by a sculpture that stood for decades in Jenin as a symbol of hope and resistance before being destroyed in 2023. Built from fragments of Shehada’s memories, the performance is an entertaining ode to the power of imagination and the resilience it inspires.
Due to travel restrictions preventing Shehada’s entry to the U.S., his original performance in November was cancelled. In place of the live performance, the screening will feature a Q&A with Shehada over Zoom.
