MFA graduate student Wonjin Kim will present three papers at upcoming international conferences: EDRA57, DTRS’15, and ISEA2026. “Productive Misalignment” (EDRA57 - May 27-30) examines how residual urban spaces can be reactivated through micro-scale interventions and participatory governance. “Carrier Bag Thinking” (DTRS’15 - June 17-19) proposes a design epistemology centered on re-assemblability and exit-point design, while “Hybrid Media Eco-Bag” (ISEA2026 - Nov. 2026) presents a research-through-design artifact that operationalizes this approach via a carrier-based hybrid media interface. Selected papers will also be included in subsequent conference publications. #ucdavis #ucdavisarts #ucdavis.ls #ucdavisdesign @ucdavis @ucdavisarts @asucdofficial #mariamanettishremartstudio @mariamanettishremartstudio #manettishremmuseum @manettishrem #ucdavisalumni @calaggiealumni #UCDavisLibrary @ucdavislibrary

Jae Yong Suk, professor of design and director of the California Lighting Technology Center, has been named the Arthur H. Rosenfeld Chair in Energy Efficiency at UC Davis. The endowment helps the chair holder promote the mission to develop and commercialize energy-efficient technologies, teach future leaders in energy efficiency, and conduct critical policy-supporting research. The position honors the legacy of Arthur H. Rosenfeld, considered the “father of energy efficiency.” The late Rosenfeld was a founding advisory board member of the UC Davis Energy and Efficiency Institute, a professor emeritus of physics at UC Berkeley, co-founder and former director of the Center for Building Science at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and a former California Energy Commissioner. #ucdavis #ucdavisarts #ucdavis.ls #ucdavisdesign @ucdavis @ucdavisarts @asucdofficial #mariamanettishremartstudio @mariamanettishremartstudio #manettishremmuseum @manettishrem #ucdavisalumni @calaggiealumni #UCDavisLibrary @ucdavislibrary
