School pride will be swelling among UC Davis students as they start fall classes Wednesday (Sept. 24).
The campus tied for No. 9 among the nation’s top public universities and earned accolades for innovation, social mobility and more in the 2026 @usnews Best Colleges rankings, published Monday (Sept. 22).
This is the fifth consecutive year the campus has been ranked among the media outlet’s top 10 public universities.

UC Davis Curative Medicine research improves the medicine we take and helps us treat many of the most prominent diseases like Parkinson's and Heart Disease.
Dr. Kent Lloyd, D.V.M, Ph.D., has spent several years collaborating with scientists across the world to uncover the function of protein-coding genes. These insights allow scientists to better understand how different genes play roles in diseases and more importantly, how prevention strategies and medication can be improved.
They have made outstanding progress decoding the human genome, but there is much more to be revealed. Cutting funding on his project would stop these researchers from continuing to decode and learn more about our genetic makeup. The answer to disease prevention and medication could be waiting in the genes they have yet to investigate. Federal funding is their lifeline.

As the nation prepares to mark its 250th anniversary, UC Davis’ annual Memorial Day Ceremony on May 21 will honor the Aggies who have given their lives in service of their country.
The ceremony will feature a reading of each name of the 136 Gold Star Aggies dating back to World War I. It will be held on the North Patio of the Memorial Union, the building that was originally dedicated in honor of those Gold Star Aggies.
