closing out 2021 with @isadoradelasparras 😇 isadora parra posición de la carne fotografía sobre escáner 14 x 14 cm 2020 ‘posición de la carne’ is a series of 17 photographs that was generated during the first months of the pandemic after spending many days in bed after a crisis of a disease that has been with me for 17 years. I sat on the scanner to ask questions to the back of my body, a part that I cannot see except with the help of some kind of reflection, mirror-reflection, lover-reflection. I wondered what happens to the back of the body when she spends so much time drowning in exhaustion and experiencing the world of dreams, nightmares, insomnia, horizontal sleepwalking. I asked myself about the chair and its labor. One sits down to eat, to shit and to piss. We sit in schools and chairs indoctrinate and discipline the position of our body, of our gaze at the world, of our drives and musings. But we also sit with disobedient purposes: one sits on the face of the lover and immediately convulses the face of the uncle; one sits on the floor with her friends to provoke conversations that cannot be postponed about, for example, mother-phobia; one sits on the sand and becomes the ocean; one sits down to write, with the disobedient tongue that has deviated from the name that others have given us; one sits on the bed, at the precise moment in which to get up or not, is an act of magic. The act of sitting as an unruly and indomitable act in the face of upright and vertical discipline. Sit down and bend your back to the floor. Seat the body, lower spine and coccyx as an anti-work measure. Settling the body that cannot support itself but trembles and groans. To settle the slowness of the flesh is to settle the circulation of revelations. -isadora parra Want to print this work and the entire show out? Lucas Neira Mol (Pietá) Digital painting printed on aluminum (original) 210 x 297 mm 2021 Junkspace is the name of the ‘mallified’ spaces that modernity has left us unsolved, spaces that grow metabolically through standardized technologies with the sole purpose of promoting the transit and perpetual continuity of people in a circuit. Air conditioning as incense, escalators as an elevator, gypsum walls as frescoes, mirrors as apparitions, mall as a congregation center. -Lucas Neira ‘Mol (Pietá)’ by @100000lucas is part of our current TSA PDF exhibition ‘022: it’s when tourists get diarrhea at south america’ in collaboration with @jun.ii.n . Nikita Samantha Félix Galarza (Runk Fae) ‘Cabinet’ - Fragment Porcelain, papier-mâché, resin and organic materials 50 cm x 7cm 2018 This piece is part of a series of sculptural installations of the exhibition "Espectros del Cajón", created in 2018. These installations were created through a dynamic focused on the collection of certain waste, such as used printing papers, cardboard, animal and human hair; with the purpose of combining the cruel essence and a nature ruled by human, which in turn is fused in the questioning of generating limits between humanity and the rest of the mammals with which it coexists. The scenarios that accompanied each of these installations are faced together in a space where the "fictional survival" to which these anthropomorphic characters are exposed becomes something ironic, from the moment in which the viewer is both involved with the sculptures in a setting that responds to a simulation of the "natural". In order to deconstruct those barriers and positions of power between the human figure and the animal figure. About drawer spectra: The exhibition "Espectros del cajón" is a universe where creatures of ambiguous and grotesque appearance coexist from a fanciful imaginary, product of the exteriorization of my worst memories throughout my journey as an independent animal activist, I seek to locate a space of understanding or reflection on the fragility of these living beings before the social structures of power between humans against animals, focusing on an appeal of the condition in which the fauna of our city is found. Sofía Salazar Rosales Piden quedarse (They ask to stay) Cement and beads in rockery 210 cm x 40 x 20 cm 2020 ‘This object evokes, for what it represents -bananas in a mesh, the modern commercial mobility of a product from an agro-exporting country, however, the weight of the material, the lack of commercial aestheticism of the represented banana, and the sensation of fossilization caused by working with the cement, they accentuate the idea of immobility, evoking an expired object, as if fixed in its last stage. The mesh as a container element, generally produced in plastic by industrial methods, in this case it is made with glass beads, a material commonly used for handicraft and / or ritual ornamentation work in various popular Latin American cultures. They ask to Stay plays on various levels of opposition, evoking the paradoxes of modern commercial and cultural flow systems: the artisan act is characterized by its dependence on the social and material resources of the context in which it takes place. In contrast, the industrial act is characterized by the use of standardized methods typical of globalization. In this way, the artisan - and ritual - elaboration of the mesh (in rockery beads) evokes dynamics that oppose the subject, commercialized bananas, and the matter, industrial cement. The weight of the fossilized banana evokes the burden of its historical memory, opposing the simplified modern mobility of freight transport.’ -Sofía Salazar Rosales Want to print this work and the entire show out? Sofía Salazar Rosales Estamos protegidas (parte de la serie: Me buscan en lugares que se nos asemejan) / We are protected (part of the series: They look for me in places that resemble us) Photomontage, digital printing 31.4 x 33.7 cm 2020 ‘We are protected is part of a series of photomontages in which different sculptures of the artist are converted into layers of photoshop to find themselves in spaces made of fragments of different places. This series was born during the first confinement as an alternative to activate the sculptures that due to the context do not have the possibility of having a physical exhibition space. The staging of the sculptures through photomontage changes the status of the piece and proposes other narratives. During the first confinement, my sculptures and I separated, I could not say goodbye. So they travel hoping to find me. Excerpt from a letter to my objects, April 2020: I seem to have forgotten my objections. My concerns are different, but you desperately look for me in places that resemble us. They move with difficulty despite their mobile nature. I do not run to meet, because I am afraid to look at us and not recognize us. (...) So they go through uninhabited, fragmented places, strange to specific territories and look for me in every corner without understanding that I am building roots.’ -Sofía Salazar Rosales ‘Estamos protegidas’ is part of our current TSA PDF exhibition ‘022: it’s when tourists get diarrhea at south america’ in collaboration with @jun.ii.n . ‘Stray Kid’ by Julie Maurin @me7usa epoxy clay, latex, iron sulfate, pens 7 x 13 x 1.5 cm, 2.8 x 5.1 x 0.6 in 2021 “Fluids are sinking from the ceiling and create a yellowish slick and bubbles on top of everything. I’m venturing outside. Things are melting down and crumbling under the burning orange sun. It creates this glow in the air and I can’t see anything. Ashes are slowly falling from the sky and come to settle on my sticky face. I can hear the sound of the gas cylinders exploding. It’s dark and I’m heading to the beach. The whole scene slowly disintegrates. The day after, the aimless or self-absorbed cultural elite awakens from a sleepless night, another one, although not for the usual reasons. Hundreds are dead and a relentless smell of smoke and despair has taken upon the usually reassuring and forgiving breeze of the now unrecognizable shores. And of course, the usual mess— cans, bottles, coins, somebody’s wallet, somebody’s jacket, food that had barely been touched and a newspaper on the floor with its title— « Mediterranean on fire ».” -Julie Maurin This work is featured in our current TSA PDF exhibition in collaboration with @jun.ii.n . Take these aligned landscapes from another world, these landscapes show, as Spinoza would say “just as the macro is, so the micro”, the possibility that the universe is contained in only one of its parts. This series of photographs tells us about sharpening the gaze, since even in the remains of food or of a human relationship life can sprout that is alien and different from the world from which it comes.
