Last weekend was my first overseas match for the 2026 season. @simonplush and @223stormin_norman hosted an excellent match in Monarto, South Australia. This was the first two day match with my new 6mmBR. Due to time pressures I didn’t have a chance to finish load development before heading to Australia. Luckily @roscoe_boscoe got me into a property on Friday to sort my seating depth and get the load hammering. Saturdays stages went smoothly with 10-20MPH winds and nice sporty targets. I finished the day in the lead. Sunday gave us much more variable tail winds that tested everyone. Unfortunately I couldn’t keep on top of the wind and dropped a handful more points than I would’ve liked, mostly in the mover (a skill I’m looking forward to refining). Ultimately I finished up 3rd, three impacts behind @andylittleprs and one impact behind @impact.aron . Congrats guys for your placing. Thanks to @horus_vision for sponsoring the match, @hornadymfg for the projectile voucher I picked up and @lukusmckennie @precisionrifleseriesaustralia for the series and live stream. Safe to say the new BR is a hammer! We’ve been flat out in the shop lately turning out barrels and getting through a stack of custom builds here’s one of the latest finished up. Tikka T3 rebarreled in .308 Win with our 18” carbon-wrapped barrel. Nice and compact, easy to carry, and still shoots bloody well. Sitting in a Peak 44 stock, paired with MTN Gear bipod and a DPT suppressor to keep things quiet and controlled. Topped off with a Swarovski scope, hard to beat that glass, especially when the light’s not on your side. Just a really tidy, well-balanced hunting rifle that’ll get the job done.

Last weekend I managed to slip away to the first match of the 2026 @precisionrifleseriesnz season, the King country PRC, hosted by @wess_claytongreene . Life is very busy at the moment and I knew I had about a 40% chance of even making it to this match. I was hoping I still had some life left in my barrel from the end of last season as I haven’t had a chance to break in this year’s barrels yet! I loaded a new batch of projectiles and bolted on a new scope. The stars aligned and I headed south very early on Saturday morning. @clint_hunt accompanied me as he was shooting his first two day match and used the loan rifle provided by the NZPRS and its generous donors. Day one, I quickly zeroed the rifle, happy to se it was still shooting lovely little groups and the new lot of 109’s lined up perfectly at range. Wess gave us ten excellent stages that helped to blow the rust away from the off season. Wind conditions were light and the weather scorching hot and humid. I finished the day with a 2 point lead, having dropped 7 shots. Day two dawned cold and breezy, with wind climbing to a switchy 10-18mph. The extended ranges and panning troop lines of day two required solid wind plans. I managed to maintain my lead over the last 6 stages and finished the weekend in first place. 100 points to start the season sure feels good! Congratulations to @_kircher_sam and @joshmaynard49 for your podium finishes. Huge thanks again to @wess_claytongreene for putting together a great first match of the season. Thank you @leupoldoptics for your ongoing generous support of the PRS and the New Zealand series!!! I’m stoked to have picked up a Mark 4HD 8-32 off the prize table. Thanks to all the competitors that are maintaining and growing this awesome sport! Well that wraps up my year of competing in the @precisionrifleseriesaustralia 2025 season! This weekend I headed to VioletTown in Victoria for the Australian PRS season finale. @comp_shooter_nz put a mammoth effort into the match, spending a week in Australia and even being away from home for his 45th birthday, just to ensure we had the best course of fire possible. This was a simple and very fair match, that didn’t have any fish hooks that could skew the scores. There was enough wind (horrible switchy wind) to make the match a real challenge and we found ourselves having to read mirage for every single shot taken. Due to the terrain the wind was capable of swinging from left to right, to right to left and back again in just a few seconds. The best, most consistent shooter was always going to win this match and a huge congratulations must go to @impact.aron for holding the lead through both days! Ultimately I was very happy with how I approached and shot every stage this weekend. I ended day one sitting in 3rd, 4 shots off the lead. Day two I kept the momentum up, only dropping a single shot for the day. But it wasn’t quite enough to poach the win off Aron. I finished up in a very close second place, only one shot off the lead and one shot ahead of @blackersofbolac in third. This score also pulled me up to 4th place for the series and secured me a season bullet (one of my greater goals for the year). Congrats again to @blackersofbolac for winning the season, @impact.aron for your win and second place this season! Thank you so much to the team at @precisionrifleseriesaustralia for all your efforts facilitating the series this year, the violet town PRC for hosting the match, and all the generous volunteers and RO’s that gave up their time to ensure this match ran smooth. Thank you to @kahles.sportshooting for the scope I picked up off the prize table and all the other sponsors that generously donated to the series. The biggest thanks of all must go to @amyeilleen for enduring all the time I’ve spent away, and her endless support of my passion! Here’s to next season! Last week I shot the @precisionrifleseriesnz @leupoldoptics Finale at the new Whitcomb range in central Otago. If you were to ask any of the competitors at the match, they’d tell you it was the most extreme conditions we’ve ever shot in. We had sun, rain, sleet, snow and wind. Lots and lots of wind. It averaged 30-40mph both days with gusts north of 60mph at times. @lukusmckennie designed a world class course of fire that proved extremely challenging in the conditions we were presented with. I would love to shoot this match again in slightly more “normal” winds. Overall it was a serious battle against the elements and the other competitors. Even with scores for stages fluctuating from 1’s and 0’s to cleans, the top end of squad one remained within a few points of each other for the whole match. Ultimately it came down to the last stage of the match. Where I was able to stay on top of my very generous wind plan and scored a 9/10 to take second place for the match and the series. Thanks to all those who helped put this match and the season together and to @kahles.sportshooting for the scope I picked up off the prize table. Congratulations to the other podium finishers @comp_shooter_nz with the win and @nick_schaw for his impressive 3rd place finish and season bullet. Here’s to next season and what that might hold! Now to prep for the @precisionrifleseriesaustralia finale next week and the @precisionrifleseries US pro finale two weeks after that! 😮‍💨 I am hugely thankful for all those individuals and companies that put their support behind me and allow me to compete at the pinnacle of the sport! @gunracknz @visionprc @trueflitenz @sims.reloadingservices
