This past weekend brought a couple of success' for me. The last couple of months I have been designing and building the first steel mover target in NZ. Getting it installed and finally ready 12 hours out from the match felt like a real achievement. On Saturday I had to very quickly switch modes and focus on shooting. The first couple of stages had me nervous, but I quickly fell into my groove and shot well all weekend. Saturday was very light winds but fog and rain visibility was a problem. I stayed consistent with mostly 9s and 10s. Sunday was a different day, with up to 40kmh winds, typical of the Otago hills. I worked hard and managed to tie for 3rd, loosing out on the tie breaker by 8 seconds. Overall this felt like a massive achievement with the lack of prep time and everything else I had going on. The mover performed flawlessly too. Better late than ever. A couple of weeks ago I went down to one of the longest running matches in NZ. @sam_ruddenklau put on an awesome match, combined with typical Southland weather making for a great weekend. Winds were tricky, up to 50kmh and anywhere from head on to full value, keeping us on our toes. My 6.5 is hammering and proved to be the right choice for this match. I ended up in 3rd place, with a big shoutout to @fraser_mackenzie_ for shooting well and taking out the win. Last weekend was one of my favorite matches to shoot, the @leupoldoptics King Country PRC, put on by @precisionrifleseriesnz and @wess_claytongreene An awesome course of fire mixed with some very challenging winds made for a great weekend. After a lot of work over the break, I felt I shot the best I have in a while and ended up in second place. A big thanks to Leupold for all the great prizes on the table and for supporting me. Two weeks ago was the annual KP Cup match in Ahititi. Every year @comp_shooter_nz tries to make us question everything with a tough course of fire and tiny targets, this year was no different. Personally this was the most fun Ive had at a match in a long time, with "creative" target shapes, 4 night stages, a great BBQ, beautiful summer weather, it all came together to make for an amazing weekend out with a great group of guys. I managed to win 3 out of 18 stages, and felt really good about my shooting. Thanks to @magdump_mark for the range, BBQ and just being a good bastard. Thanks to @stephen_horty for the effort he puts in to help run these matches. A massive thanks to @gpreventsnz for making us look good with his photography! Last weekend was the annual @sabre_tactical 2 day national @precisionrifleseriesnz match at Ahititi. @michael__wilkie put on a very good course of fire which what's just challenging enough in the beautiful conditions. I shot very well and managed a 3rd place finish, increasing my season score and bumping me into second place for the series. This was my last scoring match before our finals as I'm match directing the next match, so to be right on track with my goals is a great feeling. Sometimes all the hard work and a little bit of luck makes things fall into place. My weekend trip with the kiwi PRS crew to the @delta_tactical Steelpocalypse match in Little River Australia went very well. I worked hard through day one and managed to only drop 3 shots from 80. Day two bought more tricky winds, switching constantly and keeping everyone on their toes. I continued shooting well, dropping only 8 shots from 80 and finishing the match in second place, only 2 shots off the win. An amazing result for my first ever Australian match. I am biased, but this was a very well thought out match and made great use of the relatively small range. With many different challenges through the stages, it kept everyone entertained and focused. Once again, a huge thanks to everyone who helped me make this trip possible. Photo dump. Been crazy busy lately. Juggling the family being sick, work, practice, getting a new range certified, it's been an intense 6 weeks. I shot the @hornadymfg Ruatiti Rumble in April, I shot well in tough conditions and ended up 6th with some tight scores at the top. This match highlighted why we do this sport. Miserable weather and nothing but smiles and laughs. Straight after the match I decided that I had just enough time to get my paperwork in for the Delta Steelpocalypse in Melbourne. Making some quick decisions and calls, I decided Id put together a whole new caliber (6bra) to me to suit this match. Got my paperwork underway for a rifle is didn't have yet, it was all hands on deck. The support and incredibly quick turn around from @murfsprecisionrifles and @trueflitenz got the barrel spun up and some brass. Fireformed and reloaded 300 rounds in just over a week and we're good to go. Thanks to @tom_sims_nz for the paperwork help. Thanks to @mark.ludemann for helping me prep brass. Now off to the match!

One of my favorite stages from the @zerotechprecision King Country PRC last month. I love a stage you have to work for. This stage the wind was gradually changing on me and I had to adjust my wind hold on every shot. Ive been quiet on here lately as I've had a lot going on in the background. I've had the privilege of joining Team Leupold which is amazing. I've been getting as many rounds down range as possible and my first two matches running my new optics have gone great. I won the first 22lr match of the year a week ago, and this weekend have managed to tie for 3rd at the second round of the @precisionrifleseriesnz , getting knocked to 4th on the tie breaker. Having cleaned 7 of the 16 stages I feel really good about how I shot, unfortunately just having a couple of stages that let me down. Had a great start to the season at the Kahles southern precision match. Being 4 points of the lead on Saturday in incredibly challenging winds felt great. I kept the momentum into Sunday and managed to keep my spot in 3rd and got 95 season points which is great. All the work I've put in is paying off and I'm feeling great about 2025.
