For the next MAMI Independent screening programme, we showcase the short film ‘Nails’ on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026 at PVR Lido, Juhu at 7pm! Only her sister Mony, who has Down syndrome, is aware of the strange secret yearning plaguing Dolly, who works as a nurse in a small East Indian town. Triparna Banerjee is an India-based filmmaker, screenwriter and impact producer. She is a 2019 Global Media Maker Fellow with Film Independent. The film will be introduced by the filmmaker and key collaborators. Entry will be managed via queue on a first-come, first-served basis. The screening begins at 7pm sharp. MAMI Independent presents short film ‘Nails’, screening on Wednesday, 22nd April 2026 at PVR Lido, Juhu at 7pm! Only her sister Mony, who has Down syndrome, is aware of the strange secret yearning plaguing Dolly, who works as a nurse in a small East Indian town. A particular small-town malaise rests over this short, exploring the lives of two young sisters in the aftermath of a family tragedy. The dark and cold visual colour palette sets the tone for the psyche of the two central characters, as grief and trauma manage to sneak into the mundanity of survival. 'Nails' was part of the official selection of the 4th Red Sea International Film Festival. Triparna Banerjee is an India-based filmmaker, screenwriter, and impact producer. She is a 2019 Global Media Maker Fellow with Film Independent. The film will be introduced by the filmmaker and key collaborators. Here’s to all the madness, magic, and memories we made while shooting Flying Taxi. Producing this one was a ride to remember. The fun is totally worth cherishing. One of my favourite moments was recreating a scene inspired by Jalsaghar. It was one of the most interesting parts of the script, and I was excited about it since @sreemoyee.singh and I discussed the idea. Never thought I’d end up choreographing Kathak to Bluegrass music, composed by the fab @dolinman . The magic of cinema makes us do the impossible ☺ It was lovely to do this with @kariepotter_15 And @deeptigupta keeping me on my toes, quite literally! The best part of being in Calcutta is indulging in the good food, and when you are with Sreemoyee, she makes sure you do it right. One of the best finds of this trip was @sienna_calcutta — both for its soul-soothing aesthetics and the drool-worthy food (still dreaming of that makha sandesh) @shulighosh — what a joy it was to partner with you on this film! Filmmaking is nothing short of a miracle — a beautiful whirlwind of collaboration, chaos, and connection. Loved doing this with you all.
