A dream of mine has come true.
Anyone who knows me knows how I feel bout music. Whether it’s constantly sharing it, talking about samples that have influenced music today, creating Loungin on @kmhd_jazz_radio or having an immense mental library of music videos loll.
But today!!?? Man today!? The first album artwork I have had the honor to concept from end to end. And for none other than a modern legend in @braxton_cook . For my first album artwork to be for a contemporary jazz artist, which it’s really more than just that, is truly a dream. To create it along side in collaboration with my brother @trillmurray made it even more fulfilling. Rob is a true artist and story teller that when we get together magic happens.
I want to thank you Braxton so very much for trusting Rob and I with this work and allowing ups to help carve the vision for this album that represents a major transition in your career. All the details came through to transcribe what clarity meant all the way down to the clear vinyl! (So glad you decided to do it!)

“We’ve Come So Far” is the lead single from my upcoming album and it comes out tonight at 12AM!! This marks a new chapter in my musical career. I first featured this song at the end of my Tiny Desk concert and wanted to follow up with the studio version.
At its core, this song is about gratitude. It’s about taking stock of the blessings and how far you’ve come in life. We are all living through some difficult times and what helps me navigate through it is to focus on the things I’m grateful for like family, health, career highlights and music.

I am always collecting images and text as part of an ongoing research practice. The fragments help me make sense of the whole. Decided to make a zine that provides a glimpse into that process. It’s called “Footprints” and we’ll have a few copies at my show for folks to grab. Analog design explorations by the extremely talented @niamusiba 🙏🏿

As long as I can remember, watching the NBA has been a connection point for me and my Dad, when I'm home we watch as many games together as we can, when I'm not home we compare notes about the season on the phone. It's always been a way for us to ease into conversations about life which is the real gift. So getting the opportunity to make creative work for the league and put all these years of fandom into this campaign with a world class team of people was truly a labor of love and I'm grateful to have had the experience.
Thank you to this absolute All-Star team for the guidance, support, vision and in a lot of cases, magic making for bringing me along for the ride.
