Wow. What can I say about what took place March 15? It took scores of people to pull it off, but we managed to turn my house @casacisternamerida into #SalonCisterna25 for my 65th birthday! It all flew by in a flash & talk about flying, a bunch of pals came in from all parts for week-long celebration that started with a dinner at @olivaenoteca for the dearly-beloved, much-missed Cary Richardson. We started at and in the pool with a slinky Merman @abaryr and a captuvating Neptune @camposssdiego . Miru Kim restaged her interactive performance based on the 1949 film, "Salon Mexico", which we screened. Nereida and dancers mezmerized the crowd, not once but twice, as did pole dancers Manzanita & Maya Queer. The band, led by Rene Flores was in fine form, as was DJ @runtime.terror Fer Medina bartenders & crew kept everyone refilled with cocktails & mocktails all night long & Adrian Marcos ( exec chef at Catrin @catrinmid on Calle 47) made the most delicious canapes, amazing dinner & cake with fireworks to match my shirt! And thank you most of all to all my Merida amigos, old and new, for coming, bringing me lots of good vibes (& some great gifts)! Me divertí mucho. ¡Gracias a todos! Hace 4 años, Casa Cisterna @casacisternamerida estaba en pleno proceso. Muros abiertos, materiales en obra y una idea tomando forma. Ese día grabamos junto a @abrahamcotaparedes una etapa muy especial del proyecto: la construcción de una casa que buscaba conservar su esencia y transformarse en algo completamente nuevo. Ayer tuvimos la oportunidad de volver a grabar con él, ahora con la casa terminada, vivida y acompañada por un nuevo espacio dentro del complejo: Galería 25. @galeria25merida Ver el antes, el proceso y el resultado final nos recuerda por qué cada decisión en obra importa. Catherine Petitgas @catherinepetitgas threw a fab 40th birthday celebration dinner, as only she can, for @claribelcalderius_ at her amazing house Casa Unicorn (it’s a former convent and the previous owner had marble unicorns installed in the entrance, which you can see we made good use of...) @partiechercherdulait and I shot a series of portraits and @tiffanylthompson turned it into a magazine cover for CLARIBEL) Our girl performed, there were amazing mariachis (Clari’s fave, hence the tears) and lots of love to go around. Claribel is one of those lovely people that everyone adores. Aren’t we lucky to know her…? Feliz cumpleaños, amiga! 🌹❤️😘👏👏👏

The first Mother’s Day without our sweet Mom. Gone barely two months… but I remember about 50-60 Mother’s Day wishes and cards and chocolates and laughing on the phone, and margaritas with you. ❤️💔 This shot taken on the steps of my high school in South Houston in 2013, blocks from our old house where I grew up. I went back for a Hall of Fame induction and Mom came along. #happymothersday

5 years ago today, I closed on @casacisternamerida which I only saw in person the day before. I met my architect @arq.erikgonzalez @gonzalezestudio_ just before the pandemic hit in Feb ‘20 and found this house (plus a bonus lot which has become @galeria25merida ) online. Best decision of my life. Several years building (+ renting to some bad folks for 18 months) but since I got it back, so much has happened and I couldn’t be happier. I need to do an appreciation blog post asap.
