Évènement entre 17h et 19h 🫟🖇️ Free drinks 🥂🍻 Bio Mathieu Trembin (°1980) est un artiste français, curateur, chercheur et maître de conférences en arts plastiques et visuels à l’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS), membre du laboratoire Architecture, Morphogenèse Urbaine et Projet (AMUP, EA 7309). Il vit à Strasbourg et travaille en Europe et au-delà. La pratique artistique de Tremblin est liée à l’usage et à l’usure de l’espace urbain : documentation, action et mise en récit rendent lisible et tangible la dimension publique de la ville, tout en encourageant son appropriation. Il piste et aborde les attitudes et les traces laissées par les habitant·es des villes comme des signaux faibles de leurs urbanités, dont il s’agit d’écrire la micro-histoire, pour tisser une compréhension de phénomènes urbains à d’autres échelles. Le processus de qualification et de symbolisation de ces urbanités active un imaginaire où les communs fabriqués dans les marges urbaines sont ramenés au centre de l’attention. Cette démarche prend la forme de séries d’interventions urbaines, d’expérimentations éditoriales, de curation d’exposition ou encore de programmes de résidence.

It exposes what the public service delegation agreement conceals: the company's management of bus shelters was established as a strategy to consolidate its near-monopoly on urban advertising. #tremblinsays #antifascistischeaktion @art_and_place 01-04.05.2025, Saarbrücken (DE) @javierabarca.es invited me to curate a fly-posting related intervention on the side of the museum where Illegal 1965-1995 show by @ulrichblanchet is happening and welcoming the Art & Place programme with marvellous speakers, researchers, artists and publishers. I invited @antonio.gallllego to share his archives of typographic posters intervention from 1989 to 1993. We posted a series of posters showing some insights and telling the story behind the posters series Un arbre (1989), UN NU (1990), Un ministre (1991), Un lundi (1991), Un collaborateur (1993). On this occasion we reenact a German version of these posters by fly-posting it in Saarbrücken.

#tremblinadit "l'art n'est pas une marchandise'" [art isn't a commodity] by @robertomartinez2112 As contemporary art culture has been once again instrumentalised for fallacious purposes, I decided to put a comment about the situation in the streets. 'In Situ' concept has been influential worldwide since the mid-1960 and is used to put a veil over an ongoing gentrification process to pretend that the upcoming building is going to be site-specific. The poster displays a text about the current stage of an 'in Situ' approach, between a tribute to Daniel Buren (using the leftovers of his 2014 installation) and to the local oriental grocery store El Hardi, over which I created a graphic composition with the help of @antonio.gallllego that looks like a carpet pattern (El Hardi used to display and sell): "In Situ" is an expression used in 1965 by Daniel Buren to underline an interdependence: the work originates in and from the space where it is installed, it cannot be considered outside its place without losing its qualities and meaning. An "In Situ" work: these are Daniel Buren's colorful windows installed at the end of the street on the glass nave of the MAMCS in 2014, which were thrown away in 2017 when the work was taken down. An "In Situ" poster: this could be a text composed with the Univers Bold Oblique font like that of the two signs of the "SUPER MARCHE ORIENTAL BOUCHERIE HALAL & DECO SALON ORIENTAL", which featured geometrically patterned carpet compositions in the window. #tremblinadit [GrotEsque] During demonstrations against Réforme des retraites in March and April 2023, the convergence of anti-capitalist and anti-advertising dynamics resulted in the methodical removal - and even smashing - of JCDecaux advertising billboards in several French cities, including Strasbourg and Rennes. Stripped of their advertising posters, the "lollipops" are either a frame on the city landscape - usually relegated to the background - or distorting mirrors of the urban surroundings - when covered with black stretch film to prevent passerbyes from injuring themselves with their broken windows. The Fireflies poster, adbusted into advertising billboards, re-enacts the singular nocturnal temporality of a post-advertising world in which these lollipops would be reduced to lighting devices akin to urban fireflies. The last slides feature the documentation of a look at the city landscape during this massive and historical demonstration period using the black foil covering the destroyed billboards in Strasbourg as a reenactment of ‘Borderland’'s @tania.mouraud series. #tremblinadit #nidieunimaitrenifrontieres [No God No Master No Borders] Post-posters had been initiated by @antonio.gallllego and I in December 2018 in solidarity with #giletsjaunes social movement. We gathered artists that have been creating posters in the past thirty years in dialogue with social struggles and asked them to diffuse or address topics for the present and future days. "Post-Posters is a collection of 59,4 x 84,1 cm black and white posters produced in either horizontal or vertical format by a plotter and printed on 80 gsm white or fluorescent paper. The posters are meant to be fly-posted in urban areas, on public noticeboards or over existing billboards. It attempts to contribute to intersectional struggles." L ≈ 500 cm x h ≈ 450 cm ; L ≈ 2300 cm x h ≈ 280 cm. The first commissioned spray painted mural in 1988 by † Jože Slak-Đoka at Sax Pub has been slowly fading over decades. Mathieu Tremblin performed a wrong restoration inspired by analog photography, thus inverting its entire look. The Sax Pub mural is completed by a sentence painted in the backyard of the house and highlighting the stakes of the restoration gesture: “The best way to keep a culture alive is to prevent its objectification, sus fetishization. Old stories become models for new narratives. Negative memories are turned into positive in order to bring about a paradigm shift.” The mural was created as part of #ljubljanastreetartfestival @alternativeljubljana and made possible with the great help of @name.studios Mural: Jože Slak-Đoka (1988); 1107 klan (≈ 2012). [no discussion] Ashtray-Chimney, 2022, UrbanArt Biennale, @volklinger_hutte_en , Völklingen (DE) Bricks, cement, ∅ 30 cm x 100 cm Chimney-Ashtray is a miniature of the chimney-like structure that belongs to ironmaking blast furnace on top of which ashtray notches are carved in the bricks. Installed on the site of Völklinger Hütte, the sculpture is functional and meant to be used as an ashtray by the visitors. During the xxth century, while the demand shifted to the service sector, most of the factories in western societies dosed. Strong and historical union organizations vanished with the deindustrialization. Chimney-Ashtray appears as a functional allegory of unioning process: in the context of the uberisation of workers employment, the cigarette break seems to be the last time slot that permits to the workers to share their experience about their alienated condition.
