Not everyone coming to Rue Miche (RM) is aware of the street’s rich history and the complex timelines intertwined at this very location. The passion in local products from our friends at RM fundamentally collides with trida’s ideal of modern arts and craft.
So we as trida try to articulate the story and aesthetics of RM through our own words and crafts. This project was later named 9BYGONES - a collection of Objet d’art and a nod to the store’s address number.
“PORTAL”, the centerpiece of 9BYGONES, represents a monumental meeting point of time in the heart of RM - showcasing the past, present and future of Vietnam’s culture.
“PORTAL” opens up a cosmic gate that transitions heritage into modern time. Dipped in international blue, these “passengers” are objects scattered all around RM. They stroll around, stand upon a wall, sit down, rest, hide somewhere and everywhere.

after 3 turbulent years of overdrafting, i unravel @trida.subject with the unhinged @dadalevine - in hope for a clearer idea on what we’re gonna do with our love for arts and objects.
it does feel tremendously happy that we get to roll these conversations out for everyone to interpret - so no more kicking under the table.
we call it subject because we don’t want to put a closure on what we work on but ultimately invite everyone to be part of every piece.

I’ve been trying to find the right words for this for a year now and somehow everything still feels too small for what this night meant to me. Last May in Singapore, I finally saw her live after years and something in me quietly shifted.
I was just a kid in secondary school when I first found her on Youtube. While everyone else saw pop stunts and shock values, I saw permission. Permission to be different, to be loud, to feel everything at full volume. And I carried that with me for years without even realizing how deeply it rooted itself into who I became.
After years of watching from afar and behind screen, seeing her live felt like something finally fell into place. In that moment, I understood how deeply she shaped me and still does. The way I see and feel art, the way I let myself exist in it, all rooted in how she loves it so fearlessly. It didn’t feel like just a concert, but like coming home to a version of myself I’ve been growing towards all along since I was 13.
A year since Coachella.
Almost a year since that night.
And tomorrow, the end of the Mayhem Ball tour.
This tour will forever hold a sacred place in my heart.
And I hope I get to find my way back there again, even just with a piano down the corner.
