On 4 March, we gathered with friends and colleagues at Cumulus Inc. for an afternoon of conversation and connection to celebrate International Women’s Day. We anchored our afternoon around the theme of ‘Balancing the Scales’ - a reminder that fairness and opportunity are shared responsibilities - and that real progress benefits everyone. Beverage Director Leanne Altmann and Development Chef Jacqui Challinor hosted the discussion alongside two incredible voices in food and media - chef and owner at Tedesca Osteria Brigitte Hafner, and Anthea Loucas Bosha, CEO of Melbourne Food & Wine Festival. Read about the conversation through the link in our profile.

Earlier this October, we welcomed The Agrarian Kitchen's Rodney Dunn to @cutlerandco . An esteemed chef and teacher at his cooking school and lauded restaurant, Rodney's approach is founded in seasonality - inspired by the produce grown in his walled kitchen garden. Together with our team, he cooked a four-course menu of pristine spring produce. The rye tostadas were crisp; the asparagus with potato miso tender, and the roast Sommerlad chicken full of morels. It was a lovely evening, filled with Rodney's definitive generosity and warmth. Thank you, Rodney. We can't wait to cook with you again.

This June, @buildersarmshotel hosted its 12th annual celebration of the humble snag. For over a decade, they've been glorifying the many sausages from around the world. It's exactly what we needed to get us excited about the cosy winter days ahead. The festival was filled with sausage shenanigans and presented a banger of a time (we even made our own suitably Bangin' playlist). They served six dishes that traversed the globe, something delicious to drink with each one, plus they hosted a launch party and a snag-attack of a trivia night with Cam Smith. It warmed us through winter's shortest days and set us up for cheerful nights at the pub.

This August, @cumulusinc welcomed sommelier Pierrick Gorrichon, a friend of head chef Allan, for lunch. Together, they hosted a lively afternoon in celebration of the French region of Alsace, and all the captivating cuisine and wine it offers. Over a four-course lunch, Pierrick and Allan took us through their shared fascination with the region, complete with tableside flambé and wines from iconic producers. Thank you to Pierrick and Allan for such a memorable and delicious day!

In August, @cutlerandco hosted friend, colleague and chef, Annie Smithers from du Fermier for a special dinner. An early adopter of the paddock-to-plate philosophy, Annie’s cooking is firmly rooted in the rhythm of the seasons and the varied produce they offer. Along with our team, Annie cooked a generous menu, anchored in the farm produce she sources from near to her home in Central Victoria. Her double-baked Comté soufflé was generous; the black-faced Suffolk lamb tender and her lemon meringue roulade made the most of winter’s last citrus. The whole room was filled with warmth, as we laughed and learnt with her. Thank you, Annie. We can’t wait to cook with you again.

Meatsmith’s Summer Series – The long, leisurely days of summer call us outdoors – to the warmth of the sun, the fresh air of the garden, and the simple joy of gathering with family and friends. Summer is the season for cooking over flames, where quick and delicious meals come alive on the barbecue. In Meatsmith’s Summer Series, we ventured beyond the ordinary, exploring new techniques, vibrant flavours, and the global cuisines that define the spirit of summer. Every fortnight from January through to the beginning of March, we presented a collection of new products and recipes. After the festive whirlwind, we began with simplicity—dishes that were effortless yet satisfying: Chorizo Verde, Lamb Arrosticini, and Anchovy Sambal. From there, we travelled. To the American South, where the soulful depth of barbecue met the slow burn of Mexican chiles in dishes such as Lamb Barbacoa, South Carolina Boston Butt and sausages Al Pastor. Next to France, where sun-drenched afternoons on the Riviera inspired Rare Breed Truffle Ham, Smoked Bone Marrow Butter Garlic Bread and Pork Crépinettes. And finally, to the streets of Seoul, where summer’s final notes played out in the fresh, dynamic flavours of Maekjeok Pork Skewers, Gochujang Spatchcock and Mission Chinese Pork Ribs.
