2026 has got off to a flyer and this is a happy bonus. There are many interesting images in this project, all created by insightful photographers, I am proud to be amongst them to be selected as one of the winners and to help celebrate just how Great, Britain is. So if you see this on advertising boards around the country please send me a snap. For now thank you all to @bjp1854@jcdecaux_uk@jellison22@fthtsi@wepresent
It’s hard to add any more regarding the positive influence that this man had on photography and so much more. He was a voracious collector; of pictures, of stories, postcards, wallpaper. Indefatigably curious, tirelessly prolific, productive, conversational and ultimately a great supporter to the community of photography, for me one of his most admirable traits was the huge number of young people he supported and listened to along the way. I knew him from my time at Magnum photos and later I was commissioned to photograph him for The Observer magazine. Making stuff up along the way and being prepared to respond, is so much of what photographers have to do. In this case we took the train to Bristol and I have no idea what I was thinking but I had bought some Play-Doh and planned to make Martin a camera. What you see in this picture is wrapped around a box of 120 film. When I produced it from my bag, Martin never flinched at the frivolity of the idea but rather embraced the humour and absurdity of it all. For me that’s what he did he embraced it all; the tea, the commute, the sunburn, fried eggs, cultures, Ford Fiestas, the students, the cup cakes, the bog roll and the absolute Tartan of life. What a loss. @martinparrstudio@martinparrfdn

Sometimes you get asked to shoot things that look like things, like film and contact sheets and flare and fisheye, other times you have fun and shoot them for real.
I have a lot to catch up with and this was a complicated story, I went to Venice to help celebrate 50 years of the amazing @giorgioarmani archive, little did we know that Mr Armani would pass away a few days later, this changed my view on posting at the time and also my edit now. On a practical level shooting and filming at a film festival where every corridor and corner has been seen and every logistical move at the mercy of boat transfer is just the beginning of the challenge, we had storms, celebrations and privileged encounters with many people to be thankful to. But in the end both contemplation and absolute respect for a man that dedicated his life to an industry that he shaped far beyond his own collections.
