This Saturday we reconvene for the 3rd annual Schenley Park Summer Kickoff Party - this year we’re right alongside our friends at Pittonkatonk, just down the road! Pop back and forth between the two, then head over to Pittonk after. Weather looks good for the afternoon, don’t let any morning showers scare you away for the day :) This year’s line-up Blacklisted - Firefly - Wabi Sabi - Varden Armstrong - Depth One - High Pressure - Keebs Sound by Kallop Sound Solutions. 1pm - 9pm, Free (with donations appreciated) Potluck grilling & grubbing - We’ll have coals and the basics, you bring the rest! BYOB We welcome any help with setup, teardown, grilling and clean-up! Hit up Jake or Keebs to lend a hand Anderson Shelter in Schenley Park has a huge and newly remodeled playground so bring your kiddos! Walking, biking, or ride share is recommended due to increased parking / traffic with Pittonkatonk happening at the same time. Important: Both bridges by the park are closed to cars, but the bridge between Phipps and Anderson is open to pedestrians. The only way to drive to the shelter is via Panther Hollow Road from the Squirrel Hill side of Schenley Park. If you need to park, doing so around Phipps / Flagstaff or near the Library and walking over the bridge should work well too.

Tonight, we close down @cobrapgh . I’ve spent a lot of time in this place…. From DJing in front of amazing crowds to pouring sweat in the rafters running cables to chowing down for my birthday. The Cobra and Longturn crews have really held it down in way most people don’t realize and my contributions have been minimal compared to theirs. Whether its the BBT, Brillo or Cobra, this little corner of Bloomfield has been my musical oasis for a lonnnnng time now. Hopefully there is more in store for this wild building going forward, but only time will tell. Thanks for all the memories Cobra! On Saturday March 28th, we dance one last time. After 3.5 years of Saturday nights at @cobrapgh , The Night Shift clocks out for good. What started as a simple idea, a dance floor for people with day jobs, became something none of us could have predicted: a family, a home, a weekly ritual built on good people and good music. For the closing party we have the head chef of Cobra making his Longturn debut, @djbamboo . He's been a massive part of the space and community since day 1 so it's very fitting to have him play the last event. Joining him will be @jellyfishpgh 's @rickymawzlin , a regular in the space and organizer of one of Pittsburgh's top queer parties. Following him will be @toddkeebs , a staple in the Pittsburgh scene and a big contributor to Cobra's lighting set up. Lastly, @honjaoviolin comes in from DC to feature his sultry live violin strings and join our very own @koopmusik for one last dance in the Void Soundsystem as we shed our final tears on Cobra's dance floor together. The lineup for The Last Dance honors the full spectrum of Pittsburgh & Cobra's underground, the sounds, and the people who made this what it is. To everyone who came early, stayed late, and danced hard with us over the years: thank you. Every smile on that dance floor meant everything. Another year, another awesome Monster Jam in the books! The day after the event I’m always floating in the afterglow, but it was really elevated this year by my friend Aimee’s heartfelt post that you can read in the last slide about the community and connections the event formed/reinforced for her. I def didn’t start this “journey” with that goal in mind… but I *do* think it’s unintentionally why I’ve continued year after year. When something is as silly and pointless as dressing up like goofballs and watching giant trucks, there’s only one thing that really matters: the people you do it with. Thanks to everybody that came this year and all the past years and helped grow this little oasis of meaningless joy in a world that needs it so much these days.
