Came here in 2003 as a young naive beat maker from Beaumont trying to get closer to the artist I worked with. Lived in my car for a minute at the Walmart on Westheimer & Dunvale. Got my 1st placement playing beats at the parking lot after the club at Max’s. Received my 1st placement check at the Starbucks on Westheimer & Post Oak with about $20 to my name wondering how I was gone make it. This city ate me up mayne 😂. Thru this journey I’ve tried, failed, lost it all, made some back, quit making beats, fell deeply in love with jazz and tried again again and again…
I say this to say here I am. 20+ years later. Can’t escape creating music if my life depended on it.
Appreciate my bro @srichardjazz for believing in me enough to collaborate on a whole project. He’s one of the most patient & solid men I know personally. As a bonus he’s a phenomenal saxophonist 😀
