Take a Journey with Tina Medina At first glance, this tiny gallery box might be easily passed by — its face marked only by a simple QR code. But scan it, and something unexpected opens up. Behind that code is a beautifully layered video narrative about growing up in Oak Cliff — personal reflections and first-hand stories from people who have lived and loved this neighborhood. From bike rides at Kiest Park to the families who are rooted and remain here, Tina has a quiet, unhurried way of letting stories unfold on their own. You won’t hear her voice. Instead, she offers a light, careful touch — shaping and guiding the journey through layered video, maps, archival photos, and footage of Oak Cliff streets. It’s an intimate experience, watching it play on your phone while standing outside Pegasus Creative Reuse art supply — a fitting place to pause, reflect, and ask yourself: what do I want to make next? Meet Angel Faz — an artist making Dallas dream bigger. Rooted in lived experience — land, culture, and the everyday moments that shape how we belong to a place — Faz uses printmaking, video, and public art interventions to confront injustice and create space for all of us. For the Tiny Gallery Trail, Faz turned the lens close to home with their work “We Are a People.” “I made this piece because this is what Elmwood feels like to me. The other day I heard the Panadero coming down the street, selling pan dulce out of the back of his car, and I just stopped and smiled. That sound — that’s home.” “There are a lot of Latine in Elmwood. We’re here. We’ve been here. And we’re part of what makes this neighborhood what it is.” “We are a people. We are here, and we’re not leaving.” Faz’s broader practice has explored Dallas’s layered histories through projects like The Grammar of Animacy — a multi-disciplinary work honoring the Akokisa River (also known as the Trinity) at the intersection of ecology, identity, and place. Their print Collective Care is held in the Prints & Photographs Division of the Library of Congress, and they are the recipient of the 2022 CADD x Maddrey Artist Prize. Big sculptor. Tiny gallery. Same big energy. Pascale Mancon Pryor usually works large — like, welder-partner, outdoor-installation, you-can-see-it-from-the-street large. So naturally, she’s shrinking things down for the Tiny Gallery Trail, and honestly? The little figures are just as full of personality as anything she’s made at full scale. Her piece “ElmWeird” is a mini cast of metal-and-glass characters shaped by how they stand, lean, and reach —Pascale finds a way to make you feel something. Each figure catches the light through colored glass, hinting at the moods and stories that make Elmwood the wonderfully weird neighborhood it is. Turns out personality doesn’t need square footage. Desert plants don’t end up somewhere by accident—they migrate, they adapt, they insist on being here. So does Karla Garcia’s work. Her ceramic desert flora holds its ground in the most unlikely of places: along a tree-lined trail by a creek in Elmwood. Listening to the Ground isn’t about displacement. It’s about what survives when you pay close enough attention. — Karla García is a sculptor and Elmwood resident whose work draws from desert flora, cultural memory, and philosophy. She holds an MFA from the University of North Texas and has been recognized with the Nasher Artist Grant and the Artspace 111 Top Prize. A current Sandhills Institute Fellow, her work has been shown at the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Old Jail Art Center — and is currently featured in Clay Biennial: Tierra at Craft Contemporary in Los Angeles. We’re proud to have her work on the trail. — Elmwood Trail, Dallas 🔗 Link in bio to explore the trail Follow along. @KarlaGarciaArt | karlamichellgarcia.com #TinyGalleryTrail #Elmwood #DallasArt #PublicArt
