The Professor and I were destined to be together, right? I walked by a toy store I hadn’t seen before, and of course I had to go inside. The place is absolutely delightful.   Inside: glittery duck-shaped stress relievers; a tiny train that can travel vertically on an adjustable track; LED-light juggling balls I used to dream about; and a display of hand puppets.   One puppet looked straight at me like we had an appointment. It was destiny.   His name is The Professor. He’s purple. He’s a little ratty. And I spun around with him like I was in a rom-com.   We walked out together, rode down the escalator towards the grand piano in the middle of the Northpark (Shopping) Center, and he sat there on the ledge watching the pianist, Brad, play, taking in the world for the first time.   That’s the thing about places like The Toy Maven: you go in to browse, and you come out with a whole character.   This is what I do. ArtWalk Part 1 of 4.  I filmed Katherine at ArtWalk | West 2025 + Wild West Mural Fest in Dallas. Lots of amazing art and a number of musicians auditioned and selected through the Dallas Sounds Amplified busking program.     Filming when you don’t know the musician, the music or how it’s arranged is always tricky.  But this song is about California, where I lived for 20 years.  I still miss it. Sniff.   Katherine (Paterson), is a nominee for the Best Singer Songwriter Act award from the Dallas Entertainment Awards. I think that’s fantastic! Both Krampus and Santa Claus were at the Fretz Park branch of the Dallas Public Library today. Santa was sitting on fabric with a book design, and all the gifts in his bag were books! Krampus was set up with a nice backdrop for photos. There were smiling folks to take your photo with your phone, and it was all free. Awesome! Really fun. Enjoyed myself, screen-free, with real people at a dance! And to think I almost didn’t go. I generally prefer music from a decade later than what I was expecting to hear, and I don’t want to dance that fast—I’m not a Collegiate Shag or Balboa dancer. But I loved the Sassafras Swing Set and the fabulous Stefanie Pepping on vocals (and banjo!). I also enjoyed the lesson and the some fun dances. This was at the lovely Sammons Center for the Arts. Meet Curaçao artist and master storyteller @AshleyMauricia . He’s very patient: lost tourists often stop by and ask him for directions. Also, this video almost didn’t happen, because his cat, Zorro, made it very clear that I should’ve been filming a cat profile, not an artist profile. I grew up in Curaçao but haven’t lived there in decades, and so every time I return, something has changed. Like the big hearts with padlocks you see at the start. Those are new. But some things don’t change, like the lovely restaurant where I got my first kesiyo of the year: Lam Yuen. One more thing: the huge, awesome eyeball mural is by @popeyebrand . Quick! Take the picture before the ice melts! Snow is rare enough here in Dallas that I feel like I’ve missed out if I haven’t taken a photo using a LEGO® tauntaun when it appears.   And you see my current LEGO sigfig or signature minifigure.  That’s a little LEGO person that can represent what you look like physically, or more metaphorically.   As for the eyeballs on sticks, they’re from a collectible series of LEGO minifigures with a Dungeons & Dragons theme.  Never mind the minfig; I’m a bit obsessed with the eyeball on a stick that comes with it.    Remember when we used to post on Instagram for fun, and our friends would see what we posted?  Hahaha!   Here’s a throwback to that time.  I’d stopped posting here because I felt like everything had to be my best or be profound.  What was I thinking?  If a potential client happens to see this channel, at least it’ll be an expression of Zee even if you don’t see Zee’s face.   Uh-oh!  I’m talking about myself in the third person.  Perhaps it’s time to end here.    May you pursue your interests, the quirkier, the better, in 2025 and the Year of the Snake, and do some humming as well!   Thanks for watching and reading. 😀👍🏽   #lego #videozee
