The Professor and I were destined to be together, right? I walked by a toy store I hadnāt seen before, and of course I had to go inside.Ā The place is absolutely delightful.
Ā
Inside: glittery duck-shaped stress relievers; a tiny train that can travel vertically on an adjustable track; LED-light juggling balls I used to dream about; and a display of hand puppets.
Ā
One puppet looked straight at me like we had an appointment. It was destiny.
Ā
His name is The Professor. Heās purple. Heās a little ratty. And I spun around with him like I was in a rom-com.
Ā
We walked out together, rode down the escalator towards the grand piano in the middle of the Northpark (Shopping) Center, and he sat there on the ledge watching the pianist, Brad, play, taking in the world for the first time.
Ā
Thatās the thing about places like The Toy Maven: you go in to browse, and you come out with a whole character.
Ā
This is what I do. I walk into places with a (phone) camera and I try to find the soul in them.
Ā
The Toy Maven, youāve got soul!

ArtWalk Part 2 of 4. āHey, I didnāt get that part from this angle.Ā Could you play it again at the same speed?Ā Exactly the same, actually?ā Ā Alas, you canāt say that when you donāt know the musician and are filming in this sort of situation. š¤Ŗ
Ā
But it helps when you know the song. Yusss!!!
Ā
This is Gracen Wynn. Ā I met and briefly spoke with her at ArtWalk | West 2025 + Wild West Mural Fest in Dallas. Sheās the one who told me about the Dallas Sounds Amplified busking program, which is what brought her (and @kpatmusic - Part 1 of 4) to this ArtWalk. Ā

ArtWalk Part 1 of 4. Ā I filmed Katherine at ArtWalk | West 2025 + Wild West Mural Fest in Dallas. Lots of amazing art and a number of musicians auditioned and selected through the Dallas Sounds Amplified busking program. Ā
Ā
Filming when you donāt know the musician, the music or how itās arranged is always tricky.Ā But this song is about California, where I lived for 20 years.Ā Ā I still miss it. Sniff.
Ā
Katherine (Paterson), is a nominee for the Best Singer Songwriter Act award from the Dallas Entertainment Awards. I think thatās fantastic! Be sure to follow: @kpatmusic@dallasentertainmentawards@visit_dallas

Both Krampus and Santa Claus were at the Fretz Park branch of the Dallas Public Library today.
Santa was sitting on fabric with a book design, and all the gifts in his bag were books!
Krampus was set up with a nice backdrop for photos. There were smiling folks to take your photo with your phone, and it was all free.
Awesome! Really fun. Thank you, #dallaspubliclibrary
Would you have taken a photo with Santa, Krampus, or both?

šš I trust youāll forgive me for posting this a day late. Do you know the difference between this and World Elephant Day? Elephant Appreciation Day is about celebrating what makes elephants wonderful. World Elephant Day is about how humans are harming them and what we can do to protect elephants. āļøš Equinox is when autumn begins. And LEGO seemed like a good medium. šš½ I hope the season is lovely for you! #lego #elephant #fallequinox2025 #fallequinox
Enjoyed myself, screen-free, with real people at a dance! And to think I almost didnāt go. I generally prefer music from a decade later than what I was expecting to hear, and I donāt want to dance that fastāIām not a Collegiate Shag or Balboa dancer. But I loved the Sassafras Swing Set and the fabulous Stefanie Pepping on vocals (and banjo!). I also enjoyed the lesson and the some fun dances. This was at the lovely Sammons Center for the Arts. Thank you, Dallas Swing Dance Society! Follow the band @sassafrasswingset , meet some cool people at the @dallasswingdancesociety and join an arts community at events at the @sammons_center
Meet CuraƧao artist and master storyteller @AshleyMauricia . Heās very patient: lost tourists often stop by and ask him for directions. Also, this video almost didnāt happen, because his cat, Zorro, made it very clear that I shouldāve been filming a cat profile, not an artist profile.
I grew up in CuraƧao but havenāt lived there in decades, and so every time I return, something has changed. Like the big hearts with padlocks you see at the start. Those are new.
But some things donāt change, like the lovely restaurant where I got my first kesiyo of the year: Lam Yuen.
One more thing: the huge, awesome eyeball mural is by @popeyebrand . I also see ā @dekbtr āon the wall.

Quick! Take the picture before the ice melts! Snow is rare enough here in Dallas that I feel like Iāve missed out if I havenāt taken a photo using a LEGOĀ® tauntaun when it appears.
Ā
And you see my current LEGO sigfig or signature minifigure.Ā Thatās a little LEGO person that can represent what you look like physically, or more metaphorically.
Ā
As for the eyeballs on sticks, theyāre from a collectible series of LEGO minifigures with a Dungeons & Dragons theme.Ā Never mind the minfig; Iām a bit obsessed with the eyeball on a stick that comes with it.Ā
Ā
Remember when we used to post on Instagram for fun, and our friends would see what we posted? Ā Hahaha!
Ā
Hereās a throwback to that time.Ā Iād stopped posting here because I felt like everything had to be my best or be profound.Ā What was I thinking?Ā If a potential client happens to see this channel, at least itāll be an expression of Zee even if you donāt see Zeeās face.
Ā
Uh-oh!Ā Iām talking about myself in the third person.Ā Perhaps itās time to end here.Ā
Ā
May you pursue your interests, the quirkier, the better, in 2025 and the Year of the Snake, and do some humming as well!
Ā
Thanks for watching and reading. ššš½

The juicier stories, visuals of how the musical instrument is made, and a feel-good message. Plus a moment of escape to the Caribbean island of CuraƧao. Youāre welcome!
This is the Museo di Kaāi Orgel: the Cylinder-Piano Museum on the western part of the island.
Small but thorough, with an excellent, multilingual docent. Here heās speaking Papiamentu. But donāt worry; Iām a professional translator, and Iāve created subtitles for you!
When you visit to see the museum for yourself, you, can geek out on the history, the technical aspects of building a cylinder piano, or the musical influences and considerations.
Forget your busy life, enjoy the breeze, and leave on a positive note, possibly with a spring in your step if you danced.
Remember the show-stopper mural you saw at the start of the video? Thereās more where that came from: artist Sander van Beusekom @blendcuracao
