Frames from Staycity (a Stripe story) Working with long-time collaborator Stripe, we wanted to elevate this beyond a typical brand-partnership piece. We set about creating something that would speak to the @staycityaparthotels experience; slick, considered and memorable. We assembled a cast of corporate 🧑🏻‍💼, cosy 🧘🏽​, and curious 👩🏾‍🎨​ guests. Then we created a visual language of dynamic camera moves, vintage handycam shots, illustrative graphics and VFX overlays. I feel very privileged to have worked with CMAT on so many projects since our first music video back in 2021 for “I Don’t Really Care for You” but I never expected things would get THIS big and silly 🙂‍↔️ For “The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station” Ciara wanted Jamie to unleash his drumming skills. I wondered how I’d create a gag of some sort, a nod to the concept of the song lyrics. I thought, wouldn’t it be funny if Jamie was absolutely sick of being a chef, and gave us a proper Jeremy Allen White in ‘The Bear’ performance. Then, CMAT shows up like a fairy godmother to give him the gift of drumming again, almost like extending an olive branch. I edited a sizzle reel that featured clips of the Bear and The Brady Bunch Variety Show with the song and it made me laugh so I went with that. Nearly 2 million combined views across our Need A Dip series for @vodafoneireland ! Directing this docuseries was about finding a filming approach that created space for the story to emerge naturally - for us to really get to know the personalities of these brilliant women, and to capture something honest about what it means to show up for each other, and female friendship, all in this beautiful pocket of West Cork. We spent a lot of time thinking about immersion, and how to bring the audience into the visceral feeling of a sea swim, without ever overpowering the story itself. Getting to spend time with the @slipperymermaids was so much fun. Still dreaming of the scones.
