🎧 Here’s that random project I mentioned earlier -
opia_is_random is somewhere between a track and a minigame. Link in bio.
I had this idea a while back to make a track that reacts to the listener and sort of follows them around, and to make the music change depending on how the listener moves through a space. The @opiacommunity discord had a challenge with the theme “randomness” and I figured that it fit that pretty well, so I decided to give it a go! I figured coding it into a game was the simplest solution, and it was a lot more work than I thought 😅 Each node and area is a different track and there are 200+ of them.
Each time you listen, you’ll hear something completely unique — a version that no one else has heard before, and that will never happen in quite the same way again. I wanted to try and capture something about how we connect as humans — how every encounter is its own little moment of discovery, and how we all leave traces on the ever-shifting tapestry of life.
Alright, that’s the arty-farty bit over. Link is in bio. (It’ll only work on desktop, not phone). Use the arrow keys or WASD to float around. Stay however long you like. The music will loop forever, so just fade it out whenever you’re ready to leave. If it un-syncs I’ve left some links to reset each section.
Big thanks to the Opia team for the challenge and for making it their favorite submission.

I saw that @pianobook01 added a feature where you could sort instruments by their rating and I thought it would be a good idea to check if I’d missed any of the top rated ones.
I totally did not expect that the overall top rated Kontakt instrument would be one of my own! Thanks so much to everyone who’s rated and reviewed it, I’m totally blown away. And cheers @nasa for letting me use your recordings to create it.
Now to download and try out all the other top ones!

HUGO AWARDS 2025 🚀
It was a privilege to create the music for the Hugo Awards this year in Seattle! This was the 83rd Worldcon convention for all things Scifi and Fantasy, and it was great to see everything else happening at the con and be extra nerdy for a few days.
I was too in the moment to remember to film anything on the night so here’s a few clips I stole from their live stream. Music is from the opener track 🎧
Congratulations again to all the nominees and winners! And a big thanks to all the event team who were all incredibly lovely.
Got a new toy 🤩
When I was teaching drums I used to sneak into the school early to play marimba for an hour, and now I finally managed to pick one up second hand. Now I’ve just got to get used to four sticks instead of two..
