All accompanied by the amazing food of BadApples and two outstanding films: “Herbert” by Suman Mukherjee and the Berlinale winner from 2024 “Direct Action” by our friends Ben Russel and Guillaume Cailleau. 29th april KATALIN a radiophønix sound poem What exactly is “Lautmalerei” (german for onomatopoeia, literally: Painting with fundamental vocal noises), if it refers to the adjective “laut” (german for “loud”), the intensity of the sound, and not the noun “der Laut” (german word for “human or animal caused vocal sounds or generally for “phonetics”)? What is it then? A LOUD speaker is a cultural, social, communal, political and artistic means of the vocal activity of speaking loud, of rising one’s voice, and the means of being amplified by and through a “loudspeaker” as a human, trans human and non-human practice. What does it mean to speak up? - to raise your voice? - to be a medium for content? What is loud - the voice or the message?

30th april 7pm food 8pm sound @20nine30 hosts a live recording session with Australian sound artist and drummer Alf Jackson (@alfj_loudmusic ). Working at the edges of percussion, free improvisation and sonic texture, Jackson approaches the drum kit as a site of resonance, friction and expanded listening. His performances move between pulse, noise and gesture, unfolding as open-form acoustic events. This evening takes shape as both concert and document — a live recording session where process, presence and sound are captured in real time. White noise is a perfectly balanced equilibrium of an infinite collection of possibilities. 1st may (day) 5pm phønix sessions No.4 live set by @phonix16_band PHØNIX16 is a paradox: a collective of individuals exploring the phenomenon of the voice as a primary instrument, but also as a vehicle for social, political and cultural expression and as a means of communication. PHØNIX16 uses a variety of research sources and realises its performances in different formats, including experimental films, installations and happenings. PHØNIX16 is not afraid to incorporate influences ranging from folklore to electronic and contemporary music to death metal. In this way, the usual way of listening is constantly questioned and expanded.

20nine30 is a hub for radical sonic practice nested in and around a former church by the Landwehrkanal in Kreuzberg — part studio, part village-in-formation — where listening, hospitality, and collective work shape a living ecosystem of sound, thought, and shared practice. 30th march // doors 8pm @sharonlockhartstudio / @kreusercailleau meats and treats by @badapples.catering … come hungry After nearly a decade of joint practice, Kreuser/Cailleau (@timokreuser and @guillaume.cailleau ) were separated at the end of their THE INTERESTS ARE AT STAKE tour through Southeast Asia in 2020, stranded by the rising pandemic at opposite ends of the globe. Lockdowns, and later life, brought the duo’s work to a halt for what would become a five-year pause. In a mini-residency at @20nine30 , the duo shared the individual practices that emerged during those years apart, revisited older materials, and considered new ones. On 29 and 30 March Kreuser/Cailleau will present materials they are currently engaged with, together with films and sonic interventions by filmmakers Sophie Watzlawick (29th) and Sharon Lockhart (30th). Sharon Lockhart Double Tide, 2009 16mm film transferred to HD, color/sound, 99 minutes Double Tide documents the work of a female clam digger in the mudflats of coastal Maine. Expanding the focus of Lockhart’s films Lunch Break (2008) and Exit (2008), Double Tide creates a portrait of a relatively unseen and singular form of labor. Filmed on the rare occasion in which low tide occurs twice within daylight hours—once at dawn and once at dusk—Double Tide takes as its subject a worker whose job is defined by the most elemental and unchangeable forces of nature.
