Man this band was/is fun. XXXX from @actmusic_official actually put out a completely improvised album of this group. Definitely was groundbreaking. This was one of our tame moments. Thanks also @wdr for taping this concert.
When four high-profile musicians from the international jazz scene meet, a supergroup is naturally created. The musical strand, on which the German pianist Michael Wollny, his compatriot Christian Lillinger on the drums, the American Tim Lefebvre on the electric bass and the Frenchman Émile Parisien on the saxophone, is extremely thickly braided. And crumbles up highly complex: As soon as the four gentlemen get started, the spacious sounds, cabbage and post-rock, jazz and noise fragments are artfully intertwined, unconditionally shredded and reassembled again. All this happens hyperactively, grooving, lightning fast and of course lightning-fast - and leads to a realization. This one: The musical freedom that Wollny – Parisien – Lefebvre – Lillinger allow themselves is as lush as it is boundless.
