The Bowery Review officially launched this week with an issue jam-packed with jokes, cartoons, short-stories, and essays showcasing some of the best emerging humor writers and artists in New York. I’m so proud of and thankful for all the writers and cartoonists who gave the magazine’s first issue their time and talent. As someone who started in media as a humor writer for a bunch of outlets that have either folded or don’t publish new material anymore, I know first hand there aren’t a lot of places for funny people to see their work in print these days—so we made one. It’s great to work on a magazine that people are supposed to laugh at this time. Here’s to 100 more issues, great parties, and friends like these. Go pick up your copy at @mcnallyjackson @casamagazinesnyc @sohonewsinternational_186 and a bunch more. AND GIVE A FOLLOW TO OUR AMAZING CONTRIBUTORS: @theboyabouttown @edenpritikin @baileyheldmar @playboibmont @megsbroussard @lanierhicks @austinweyant @d_instamang @daveybarrett @britnmorse @carsilv @robinreetz and an incredible cover by @heathervmcleod (Also, a very special thank you to Tecoda and Biggie’s Bodega for helping us throw a killer launch party in Dimes Sq.) @drinktecoda @biggies.bodega @sammylevin_

Incredibly proud of all the time, hard work, laughter, and care that went into making @wooloomooloofilm my first feature. After showing the movie to our friends and family last night at @angelikafilmny I’m all the more confident in our thinking: you can make a great movie without hundreds of thousands of dollars. People are smart, and good storytelling and acting will reach them. All you need is an iphone, a boom mic, and a team of smart, creative people working really hard. That’s why I was so lucky to have the cast that I did, especially @ziggy.1 @juliaklinestiver @youngestofbloods @thnicko @gracemaddux Not to mention all the friends who let us shoot in their apartments and restaurants, @baileyheldmar who watched every cut and noted every script revision, John Messina who fixed all our audio issues like a magician, and our incredibly funny supporting cast. The comedy of errors that is dating in New York is an all too familiar feeling for many, and these people brought every aspect of that to life through their characters. I can’t wait for the rest of the world to see what we made together.

The Soho Review had its first cover party last night. So many people worked really hard to make this very funny magazine. Thank you to all the writers, cartoonists, and artists who let us monopolize their time and talent (tagged in the last photo, even the out-of-towners). Thanks to @trotterandsholer for generously having us, @kiki_disco and @cocktail_acdmy for all the drinks, @thenines_nyc for our after party, and the readers, for buying print magazines. More issues will be on newsstands—Iconic Magazines and Casa Magazines—on July 25.
