This painting revisiting an earlier composition of beach roses has made its way to NYC and will be on view @untitledspaceny as part of “In Full Bloom.” The exhibition, curated by @indiracesarine , will feature a group of female artists whose work uses floral motifs as a lens for transformation, embodiment and power.
It’s spring, it’s flowers, it’s a group of talented women, what more could you want? I hope to see you at the opening tomorrow!

It will need a few more tweaks but I’m happy to be able to take her in as a whole.
I have to add a few more darks to the hair and flowers and maybe pump up the highlights a bit but she’ll be ready just in time to welcome the springtime flowers that caress her cheek.
It felt so good to finally work on a painting who’s likeness has patiently waited in my sketchbook and on my desktop for probably a year or two. I have so many projects and get pulled in so many directions while art making but this, like the ears, is a special little treat. She shows the likeness of my aunt who I never had the pleasure of meeting but it certainly felt good to spend some quality time with her.

Imagining bluer skies while painting this apple tree foliage recently. A sped up version always make it look so easy but I was moving pretty slowly with this one.
I painted the background first which I usually don’t do but I thought it would make my life easier rather than painting blue around all the leaves. Turns out I had to paint each leaf edge extra carefully knowing I wasn’t touching up the background afterwards. Even after years of painting I’m still testing new ways of working.
It did feel extra nice though painting with some really special new brushes I got from @artifyartsupplies . Thanks for making me feel like a real influencer and making those leaf edges extra crisp! They really are fantastic.

Wednesday night I had the honor of seeing my little ear painting installed alongside works by Henry Moore, Gustav Klimt, Maurizio Cattelan, and a handful of others.
Sometimes life gives you these little opportunities to remind your inner child that anything is possible and I’m forever grateful for them. Thank you to @flagartfoundation for including “Reclining Nude” in the exhibition S-Curve. It’s up until April 25th and definitely worth a visit.

I’ve painted my fair share of ears over the years but my latest one is a little different and it’s about to make its debut at the FLAG Art Foundation in NYC.
My first painting of 2026 titled “Reclining Nude” features an ear with a little more context and a lot left to the imagination. It will be included in the exhibition S-Curve at The FLAG Art Foundation from February 12-April 25, 2026. The exhibition in its own words “brings together artworks from the 18th century to present day that reflect on the human body in an active state of repose. Encompassing an array of eras, media and formal approaches, the exhibition illustrates the elasticity of an art historical trope and underscores the complexities and possibilities present in contemporary depictions of the body.”
My little 3” x 5” oil painting will be in good company among the names of Gustav Klimt, Maurizio Cattelan, Louise Bonnet and Giovanni Battista Piazzetta among others. (Yes yes I’m freaking out too!)
I can’t wait to see it come together.
