Collecting and assembling the table for last weekends @namesanamesa event with help from friends. . As guests arrived and sipped on cocktails designed by namesa for the evening, we collected sections of the table from the nearby warehouses and brought it to the gallery. Here we assembled the 13 foot table and laid places for all the guests. . 📷 @excelsso

Some pictures from the opening of PITCH with photos and a wonderful text by @monanicolaysen translated below…
“The installation was beautiful, smart and nicely placed, smelled good of tar, and immediately after the artist talk it was dismantled. I was surprised that they wanted to do so. Talk about contemporary art! Why dismantle something so well done? And then, on my way home, I thought - that’s exactly how it is! Why “dismantle” a society when everything is beautiful, smart and nice? No one wants to take apart something that apparently seems perfectly fine, right? Even if it is not sustainable in the long term. I think a lot about how we as humans drive ourselves into the ditch because we don’t realize that our behavior in the world is destroying the life conditions for our own species. We need a dismantling of mindsets, habits and ways of living if we are to get out of this mess in a reasonably good way. Art creates awareness” @henrikibsensgate10 @greenlightdistrict_norway @culturemoveseurope

CLOSE CORNERS curated by @scott_mccracken_ opens tomorrow at the new @turpsgallery come say hi 👋 I am showing a small work that makes use of the offcuts and leftovers from the studio. These pieces have been kept from all the larger site specific installations I have done over the years. In this work there are offcuts I saved whilst @turpsstudioprogramme 8years ago. I knew they would come in handy one day! . ‘Close Corners’ is an exhibition of and about small painting selected by Scott McCracken. The works are diminutive and modest in size, yet they each possess their own shifting internal scale; their own pictorial space which cannot be measured. We relate to paintings differently depending on their size. Unlike larger, human-scaled painting which invites entry into itself, where there is a threshold that can be crossed, these works cannot be entered in such a way. They are mental pictures. Tactile pictures. They are the size of heads, of hands and of pages rather than of bodies and windows and walls. Viewing them at a distance only obscures their material nature and their surface matter. These paintings require close working. Close looking. Their edges contain and their corners are close.

Great day spent exploring with @greenlightdistrict_norway and @henrikibsensgate10 in preparation for the Green Light festival next year. Learning what the earth provides has shaped and will shape the landscape and communities here with visits to @spritenkunsthall @telemarkkunstsenter @ibsenhuset and old iron mines in Fen.
