Today is the day we finally emerge as the band who will replace @shihad_the_band in the hearts of New Zealanders. Heading straight for number one on the singles charts and forever remembered as the band whose songs were rather average but their music videos incredible. The Cure is the latest single off our soon to be released self-titled full-length album available in early 2025. Inspired by the Ray Bradbury short story The Foghorn, The Cure speaks of eternal loneliness but the longing to end this hopelessness. Engineered and produced by my BEST FRIEND not named Luke, Evan Pope at @studio_11b . And mastered by John Golden at @goldenmastering With a video by the exceptionally talented @videosmosconi who is on a one-man mission to bringing back puppeteering and claymation to the mainstream. Conveniently released just in time for the start of our NZ tour with @ipecacrecordings #1 act @spotlightsmusic tomorrow 21st November at @whammybarauckland with @the_family_du_trois . Tickets available from @undertheradarnz . Thanks to @your_enabler_presents . 21/11 Whammy Bar, Auckland 22/11 Monkey House Lounge & Cabaret, Whitianga 23/11 @lastplacebar , Hamilton 24/11 Under the Tauranga Harbour Bridge (all ages) 27/11 @paisley_stage , Napier 28/11 @valhalla.nz , Wellington 29/11 @thestomach.nz Palmerston North (all ages) 30/11 @crowdedhousebar , New Plymouth 01/12 @bigfan_nz , Auckland (all ages) The Cure is available from all streaming platforms today. #masterofpuppets

Funeral March, is a song that speaks of the isolation and grief that comes with loss and trying to find a way to get through this associated pain by entering other dimensions to find those that have gone or a way back home to oneself. Engineered, produced and mixed by Evan Pope at @studio_11b in Tauranga, New Zealand and mastered by John Golden at @goldenmastering (Primus, Faith No More, Melvins, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden) and an accompanying video animated, created and directed by Pang at Asmara Studio. Funeral March is the first track off the 10 song self titled Threat.Meet.Protocol album to be released in early 2025 and leading into our 10 date tour of New Zealand with Ipecac Records band @spotlightsmusic in November 2024. Get your tickets from @undertheradarnz now!

We were truly hoping not to play any more gigs this year as we are really really close to writing a new song, but maybe that can wait a little longer. As how could we say no to our old mates @hoickbandnz when they asked to join them for their album release shows? Raglan on the 29th May with @critter_nz at the Harbour View Hotel and in Tauranga at @okahukura.studio with @twoskinnerxoxo and @stuntclownnz for an old man TMS reunion. Check the new HOICK album if you haven't already, recorded and mixed by our own Evan Pope. It's the album of the year for sure.

Evan didn't want us to share this, but we are incredibly proud of him for being featured in the winter edition of Autism Spectrum News. A quartley newspaper/magazine with a global readership of 600,000 people. While he may come across at times as aloof, or worse rude with his stand offish natue: and yes, he has a tendency to bore even the most curious of minds with his minute descriptions and technical obsession with stuff that many of us don't understand or care about like recording processes or snare drums  But Evan is actually neurodivergent and ASN has recognized Evans achievements dealing with and overcoming this as a studio engineer. Evan has found the perfect place for his uniqueness working  with @studio11b as their engineer. Recording with some of New Zealands biggest acts has helped Evan to hone his technical craft and also developed his interpersonal skills, something he previously lacked. Working within a controlled space like a music studio is the best place for Evan to find order in a world of disorder. We personally as a band are very appreciative of Evans uniqueness as without him we wouldn't be the band we are today without his careful contributions. Congrats Evan!

And finally our headliners of the evening for the grand reopening of @lastplacebar ... @threatmeetprotocol For some reason an unfathomably large percentage of the tiny crowd that stuck around to see them had traveled from out of town. I can't tell whether this speaks to their level of popularity with music fans or if it's just down to how few shows they play nowadays. Honored to be playing on this special occasion for the venue, ole Threaty took the stage and proceeded to play the same tired old set they've been thrashing for years now. Never change. Or write any new material, it'd probably suck. 13/02/2026

We have a gig to promote for the @lastplacebar reopening party tomorrow night with @mooring_noise @commodore65nz and @martiallawhc but in the absence of any new media or news from us then here's another reason to celebrate. This February marks 15 years of Threat.Meet.Protocol, from our early days as an unlistenable 2 piece to our now advanced years as an unlistenable 3 piece. Thanks to everyone we have had the pleasure of playing with or to over these years. We have had plenty of amazing opportunities. And are grateful for all of it. Of course, tomorrow night will eclipse all that has come before. As obviously we are only improving with age. Also getting better looking. Hairlines getting thicker. And our creativity flowing faster. Though apparently Evans dick keeps shrinking.... Come celebrate Last Place reopening and our moody teenage years tomorrow night in NZs Chlamydia capital Hamilton.

We don't normally make a big deal about these Spotify end of year run downs. Partly because we despise their platform and the detrimental decline it has helped incubate for the music industry as a whole, but mainly we just don't share them because normally we have no listeners. However, in 2025 we would like to thank all those that listened to our band. There was a surprising amount of you. Especially for the self titled album we released in March and the songs off it. Special mention to the 3 crazies that had us as their #1 artist and the people of Guatemala who for some odd reason really like us. Guatemala 2026 tour anyone?

We couldn’t be more pleased to announce that we will be joining one of our greatest influences and biggest musical heroes on their upcoming New Zealand tour @thejesuslizardofficial !!! I know what your are thinking but just because I’m promoting the tour, Luke and Evan are working as stage hands and they plan to use Evans drums - it most definitely isn’t a case of nepotism. Threat.Meet.Protocol were picked on artistic merit. Jokes, it was nepotism. Thanks so much to @thejesuslizardofficial @ipecacrecordings @your_enabler_presents for making this happen. And for @spotlightsmusic for vouching for us, love you guys. Get along to one of these dates below!!! 11/10/25 The Tuning Fork - Auckland (60% tickets sold) 12/10/25 San Fran - Wellington (50% sold) Tickets available from moshtix.co.nz

In 2016 we had a dream. A dream where one day we would have 10,000 likes on Facebook. With these likes surely we would get international tour supports, government funding and radio play. But let’s face it we were never going to get this on the merits of our own music… so a page was created Cute Pets Doing Cute Things. A page so sickeningly cute no one could avoid liking it and so the prophecy foretold that one day when it reaches 10000 followers we would change it to our band page. Well we are almost there. Help us get to 10000 likes so we can change our name to Cute Pets Doing Cute Things.
