story time: last month i got to attend @threadsofchange_official , an evening honoring the trailblazing individuals and orgs shaping a better today & tomorrow thanks to @cashplease 💓 i hit up @shabakaaa on the shortest of timelines to see if @houseofaama would graciously dress me for the evening and not only did they say yes, but they were there as an honoree! unbeknownst to us, we were getting ready for the same event!!! kismet! i had the honor of announcing the community action award of the night to @supportandfeed ❣️ all my love to my girls @iam_samata and @sophfei (swipe for a surprise) for hosting such a beautiful evening, to @shabakaaa for bringing my earth mother goddess fantasy to life, to everyone that made the night so special, and to everyone doing the WORK™️ 💗💗💗💗

At Threads of Change, it wasn’t just about who was in the room, it was about the conversations that needed to happen. The event brought together a diverse group of thought leaders, activists, and designers to raise awareness and drive real change for a more sustainable future.
Inspired by the spirit of the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, the agenda was clear: move beyond conversation and spark action. Fashion, culture, sustainability, and community, everyone is impacted by this.
Threads of Change is a movement, not just an event. And it’s one we’re very much here for.

For Threads of Change, we needed a design system that was flexible and could adapt across platforms. The idea was to create something that would work seamlessly across everything, from event backdrops to digital assets & social media.
We used typographic ‘threads’ to tell the stories of those leading the charge toward a more sustainable future - amplifying diverse voices in endlessly creative ways. We brought it to life through moving threads of copy - statements, messages and thoughts that intertwine poignant imagery to bring stories and experiences to the fore.
The gradients you see are actually photos of sunrises - visual metaphors for the future - they create striking event design, animations and social posts.

Finally getting around to sharing a glimpse into The Threads Of Change dinner last week in LA. It was an honor to attend and a joy to be in community with so many incredible humans. 🌈
Funny story — immediately before heading to the rooftop for dinner, the zipper in my thrifted dress totally split and broke, leaving an entire side of my belly exposed. 😭 From Saturday when I thrifted the dress to Monday when I wore it, I guess baby grew 🤷🏼♀️
I remember hearing the question: “what’s plan b?” And literally saying “there is no plan b!” LOL
Thankfully the ever-amazing HMU magician and now proven tailor @fabzzz21 was able to sew me into the dress using the mini sewing kits from the front desk, and it held all night. 😅
So grateful to finally connect with so many folks IRL that I only knew “online” before, to see my due date twin @evelynnworld and to get to spend some quality moments with @iam_samata — my brilliant friend and one of the hosts of the event. 🫶

LA is in bloom again 💐 The close of Earth Month & the thick of Spring are hitting differently this year.
I always say that working in the climate space is a constant reminder to fiercely protect what we love and hold dear, yet few things can prepare one when climate change lands at your doorstep like it did with the LA wildfires at the start of this year.
Yet in its wake, something powerful emerged: neighborhoods grew closer, grief gave way to action, and the city mobilized in a way that I had never seen before.
While we’re living in times of deep loss– from climate, from conflicts– home is fragile, but it’s also where our fiercest love lives. And it’s worth defending. Something we should fight for deeply.
I took these images in my garden ahead of a dinner hosted by @threadsofchange_official this week, which was created to celebrate the end of Earth Month + highlight those who are impacting their community in Los Angeles.
This year, we gathered in support of the Altadena Fire Fund, uplifting the people and places most affected by California’s wildfires. 💗
