We are very excited @threadsfestswindon to be having an original banner or 2 created by the amazing women of Greenham Common.
(This image is of a banner by Derbyshire Women for Peace banner created in the 1980s}
We were so lucky to meet @bunny_morethan at a screening of Gentle Angry Women @sofascreenings
and chatted to her about her book and asked if any of the Greenham banners still existed.
Rebecca and Vanessa from @scarylittlegirls
Have been so kind in to letting us display the banners and use the archive photos in our exhibition 'Threads of Empowerment '
'....They formed what became the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. They stayed there for almost twenty years, in what would become the largest, most effective women-led protest since the Suffragette campaign- and they would radicalise a generation'.
Taken from a Out of the Darkness, Greenham Voices 1981-2000 by Kate Kerrow and Rebecca Morgan.
We are hoping there will be a talk about the book Out of the Darkness , The Greenham Voices 1981-2000 so watch this space.
