We hear from Derrick Marumba from Tapin Media on Gen Z talent, stereotypes of Gen Z at work and why organisations need more than just having a DE&I policy if they’re really going to attract, progress and retain Black Gen Z talent. Tapin’s ‘This is Black Gen Z’ insight highlighted experiences, issues and opportunities facing young Black prospects in the recruitment market and how organisations need to improve their employer brands.
In an age where content on TikTok and Instagram gives an inside track on what employee experiences are like, the ways in which authentic workplaces are are shared is rapidly evolving and can’t always be curated and controlled by employers.

Hiring a car abroad
A few 🚘 tips from a trip to Ireland 🍀
Pre book your car hire, the queues and cost can get pretty unpleasent. To get the best deal and avoid the stress, book in advance
You’ve got a quote but is the insurance included? It can be pricey, so make sure you’re informed to avoid any nasty surprises
Same goes for your excess 📈
Is your driving license up to date?
Check if you need an international driving permit for the country you’re visiting
Try and familiarise yourself with the local road signs and make sure you know which side of the road you should be driving on 😉
You’re charged per driver not per vehicle, so if you want more drivers, they’ll be an extra cost!
Have you booked parking at your accommodation?
Some companies charge big time if the car is returned dirty - save the money and keep it clean!
Check the gov website for more advice on hiring a car abroad! (/driving-abroad)

Make sure you keep your valuables safe. Don’t get the the end of the week without that passport… Use a bumbag and keep your valuables with you at all times.
Look out for each other, if leaving a crowd in a busy rush, hold hands, make a snake so you Dont lose each other.
In case of getting split up, have a back up meeting point, somewhere obvious near a big sign etc.
Set up find my iPhone. And have a small portable charger in case you lose battery.
Allow for the time to get to airport after, it gets mad busy so don’t miss that flight
Make sure you’re covered by insurance for the country you’re visiting

If you’re planning on tearing up the slopes. Don’t get caught out. Plan ahead. You don’t want to be stuck on the slopes if you hurt yourself with no way to get down because you’re not insured.
Make sure your insurance covers you for the activities that you’re doing, whether that be skiing, snowboarding on or off-piste!
It’s easy and doesn’t cost much to get your insurance and it literally could save your life. I speak from experience, I would have been completely stuck if I couldn’t get rescued off the mountain..! My back went into spasm in the Italian mountains, miles away from the hotel, had to get rescued from the mountain cause i couldn’t stand up, after an MRI and XRay i would’ve had a hefty bill but I had insurance, without it i would have been in big trouble. I was ok in the end, just bed bound for 2 days unable to move…
Many places charge tourists who have behaved negligently for mountain rescue so it’s worth checking what you’re covered for in your travel insurance. Some policies may stipulate that you follow weather warnings, not do anything beyond your capabilities for example.
Ensure you’re familiar with the route you’re taking on your trip so you’re limiting the risks of coming across terrain you’re not trained for.
You don’t want to end up on a double black diamond ski run on your first time after 2 visits to Escape….
