A carved oak comb patinated using natural reactive stain, and its cast counterpart rendered in bronze. Presented on a plinth of reclaimed pine. One comb invites touch whilst the other rebels against it due to the reactive nature of the bronze.

A collection of some absolutely glorious spoons / utensils carved at the inaugural spoon carving workshop, hosted by @flawk and myself. It was great to see this group of people come with their unique point of view, grasp a new skill and refine a lump of timber into an expressive functional object. I can’t wait to do more, next class announced soon!

Carve your own spoon! Come to our Runda housewarming weekend this Saturday or Sunday for a masterclass in wood carving, led by designer and friend of Flawk Thomas Wheeler @thomaswheller .We did a test run of the session a few weeks ago and can say it was a thoroughly satisfying experience to turn a crude block of wood into a functioning utensil – and all the better for being fully analogue (no phones for three hours!). Hooky Spoon Maple

RUNDA HOUSEWARMING WEEKEND & MARKET: Sat 28th Feb & Sun 1st Mar. Come over to our new place in Gospel Oak! Hang out, learn how to carve a spoon or pick up vintage furniture, enjoy contemporary art and limited-run homeware. After a successful trial run at Flawk HQ, designer @thomaswheller will be leading two wood-carving workshops over the course of the weekend, both from 10am to 1pm:

 Drop by anytime between 11am and 5pm over the weekend to see paintings from @miloscgallery ‘s curation of artists @im_na_naina @d.paloma___ . Enjoy vintage furniture from @mya.k.in , @disjecta___membra and @311_ltd Ltd – all of which will be available for purchase. We’ll also have homeware and hardware from the Flawk Shop, made by us and our collaborators such as @mo___tong , @monika.kolarz @jakerobertsonsss , and @ppp__lab . We’ll have a room dedicated to a mini exhibition of ceramic handles made by young students during a Flawk-supported @storeprojects programme last summer. Working alongside practising artists and designers, the students designed, moulded, cast and glazed their own ceramic handles, learning each stage of the process by hand. A stout little napkin holder, carved from Maple and Walnut

SCURA. @scura.magazine When most of us say we’d like to build our own house one day, we use ‘build’ in a non-literal way that implies a heavy – if not total – amount of outsourcing. What designer @thomaswheller means when he says he wants to build his own house is quite literal, and extends far beyond the walls themselves: the structure, the furniture, the pottery, even the clothes inside it. “I just want to make everything,” he says, standing in the kitchen of his current home. Despite being his first rental – shared with his partner for just two years – the flat in Peckham, south-east London, already clearly conveys that intent, full as it is of furniture, objects and designs that reflect his interest in growing as a maker. “In general, I just find it hard to buy someone else’s designs.
