Lantern House by Bercy Fadel (Thomas Bercy @thomas_bercy & Bethany Fadel @bethany_fadelatx ) in Austin, United States, completed in 2024, rests quietly among the oak trees of the Bouldin Creek neighbourhood 🌿. Designed as a private urban retreat, the house unfolds through interlocking volumes that open toward gardens and shaded terraces. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and small courtyards weave interior life with the surrounding landscape, allowing daylight to filter through the rooms throughout the day ✨. A restrained palette of warm wood, metal, and glass reinforces the calm character of the home, where architecture becomes a quiet frame for light, trees, and everyday life within the city 🌞. Falling Leaves House. On a steeply sloping 10-acre property in West Austin, a young family commissioned a rural residential compound and artist retreat. Inspired by the shapes and curled edges of falling oak leaves, Bercy Chen Studio incorporated this imagery as a design motif for a series of sheltering pavilion roofs.

Iconic and timeless. Behold the Pierre Koenig Case Study House in Los Angeles, a masterpiece of mid-century modern architecture. This sleek steel and glass structure effortlessly blurs the line between indoors and outdoors, embracing the California lifestyle. A true testament to Koenig's innovative design vision.

Immersed in architectural brilliance at Taliesin West. The concrete boulder walls exude strength and character, while the translucent canvas ceiling creates a mesmerizing play of light and shadow. A perfect blend of innovation and natural beauty.

Bold ruler house. In complement to its setting on a limestone slope overlooking the Texas Hill Country, Bold Ruler House draws its inspiration from the clusters of ancient Roman and Etruscan hillside towns. It is composed of a collection of stucco-and-glass volumes which project out dramatically over the hillside. These volumes are nestled between heavy demising stone walls that appear to be drawn up from the ground. Over 400 locally quarried load-bearing limestone blocks each weighing over two tons create the structure of the house.

Edgeland House is located on a rehabilitated brownfield site and is a modern re‐interpretation of one of the oldest housing typologies in North America, the Native American Pit House. The Pit House, typically sunken, takes advantage of the earth’s mass to maintain thermal comfort throughout the year.

Walled courtyards and shadowy screens maintain mystical Moorish modesty are artfully appropriated to define private spaces where the sunny liberty of Austin’s quirky brand of the American Dream may be enjoyed indoors and outdoors with abandon. A single-story vestibule cut into the elegant composition of the front façade functionally shelters the main entry from the elements while formally respecting human scale on the street.

Shore Vista Boat House is located on a bend in Lake Austin across from the Balcones Canyonlands Nature Preserve in Austin, Texas. The site is generative of the elliptical form that maximizes the beautiful views of the undulating hills and ribbon of water beyond. Rounded edges of the dock, along with the curved glass railing, peel away, allowing for more of the landscape to be captured into the visual frame.
