Long overdue post of A Heretical Formation w/ @junetsanders at @solarnoon.xyz
A Heretical Formation pulls apart artists June T Sanders & Jacob Riddle in an exhibition centered around dissonant practices of sculpture. It probes at and critiques ideas of accepted form and process — and each artist approaches the same dissent in opposing trajectories — coming from a mutual base and expanding in drastically different forms. One analog, one digital, both abusing and misusing materials in service of their expansion. A lack in formal similarities is met with analogous attitudes, processes, and aesthetic misconducts.
Within this practice lies layered critiques around technology, decorum, austerity, taste, and the divide between craft and high art.
Within this practice lies a mutual regard of construction, rurality, spirit.
Within this practice lies forms meant to blend — and live together — and hold each other’s meaning.
Last week to view Unplayable in MediaLive: Data Rich, Dirt Poor @bmoca Curated by @mayadot
Unplayable is a game-installation centered on AI-driven NPCs trapped in cycles of work, consumption, rest, and observation, endlessly pursuing desires that never resolve. Their actions are scored and narrated by a language model embedded in an endlessly repeating simulation.
Alongside the installation, the Unplayable: Viewer Manual is now available as a digital publication @metalabel__ Link in bio.
Concept, writing, design, programming: @andydilallo Installation artifacts: @thisisjacobriddle 3D models & in-game assets: @a_ian_anderson

Thanks to everyone who came out to the opening last week! Unplayable is up @storeroomdenver until September 5th.
“Unplayable presents a simulated world inhabited by AI-driven characters locked in an endless chase for Lacan’s objet petit a, the unattainable promise of perfect satisfaction. These characters are “unplayable,” endlessly cycling through scripted rituals—wandering, working, eating, failing to rest—as their actions are scored, calculated, and narrated through embedded large-language models. Displayed across synchronized screens, their repetitive struggles expose not a lack of agency but the illusion of it under algorithmic determinism. By observing this painful simulation, viewers confront their own mediated desires and the structural impossibility of true fulfillment within a platform-driven reality.”

Join us for the opening party on Thursday, July 24th at 7:30pm!!
“Unplayable” presents a simulated world of AI-driven characters enacting a painful, repetitive chase for Lacan’s objet petit a, the elusive object that promises wholeness but never arrives. These characters are “unplayable,” bound by loops of game rituals that mimic, mock, and distort their desires. They attempt to search for meaning in a simulation where every action is scored and calculated. Across synchronized screens in the gallery, audiences watch as these NPCs drift, toil, eat, and attempt to rest, narrating their experience through an embedded large language model.

Throwback- Class of 2024 in Berlin !
We had the opportunity to go Germany this Summer. The study abroad trip was made by 16 students, 2 remarkable professors, way too many Donner Kebabs and not enough Yerba-Mate.

This experience offers an opportunity for students, to study design through the lens of activism while navigating a different culture among peers.
58 years ago my uncle Phil painted this same graffiti in this same spot. While I have very few memories of Phil my entire life I have been told how much I remind people of him. I was raised by women who can only be described as badasses and this is to honor all of them and Phil. Special thanks to my assistant artist @lostinohio79 and get away drivers @merrik.wilson5 and Amanda.
