Thanks to all who have stopped by our current exhibition, “Between a Love and a Hard Place,” on view at @mediawindow.bham until Thanksgiving.*
A little more about the venue:
In February 2024 we moved out of our white cube and into the public sphere. Funding is tight in the arts — we have to be resourceful. We now curate site-responsive and publicly accessible exhibitions, considering the City of Birmingham as an art gallery framed by social architecture.
Artist and Vinegar curator @yesmedia.gram has been seeking new homes for art and has found one: a downtown residence with an open heart and a big window, now christened as the Media Window.
The window pane divides and connects the living room to the sidewalk. Both the home and the city are grounds for love and belonging. Art lives between and illuminates them both.
The Media Window is privately operated from its interior. It will host a range of projects that reach outside, and will prioritize Vinegar as its primary activator. The missions and the loves align.

*Quick note: the Media Window is temporarily out of order, as the punishing afternoon sun has fried the poor donated TV. We will recycle it. We were afraid of this and had ordered an exterior blackout shade to protect the tech, but it didn’t arrive in time for the opening. The Media Window will announce when it’s back up and running.
We're back with a video art exhibition, "Between a Love and a Hard Place," opening Saturday at a new collaborative venue, the Media Window in downtown Birmingham.
Reception on the sidewalk this Saturday, Sept 28 from 6-8pm.
Installed in a private residence, this publicly accessible Media Window merges personal and civic life.
"Between a Love and a Hard Place" features work by Barry Jones, Julie Lee, Roger Beebe, and Kellie Bornhoft.
