I’ve been revisiting some old projects and put together a reel with my footage from a New Era social shoot. Every year I try to take at least one long road trip, so last summer I set my sights on Oregon and Montana to visit some old pals and attend a wedding. I don’t think there’s anything better than a few thousand miles on the road in solitude to help answer life’s big questions - Who am I? What matters to me? How do I see the world?
The paradox is that the more I go on solo trips, the more I recognize I’m never really alone - nature is always there with me. I get to know myself by getting to know my environment. There’s no separation between the two - we are one and the same, the cosmos made conscious and, in the words of Carl Sagan, “a way for the universe to know itself.” In a moment of silence, the time and space between my carefully constructed ego and the birds and the trees, the mountains and the lakes, dissolves. And there just is.

In January I had the opportunity to spend a week shooting retail training videos for @alo and came to find that, contrary to many in my field, I really enjoy corporate work. I put together this recap of our shoot in hopes to pursue more.
We shot 10 modules and @estoveststyle somehow managed to memorize 4 million pages of instruction after our teleprompter went out (and looked cool, calm, collected on camera while doing so), with @slsferguson acting as producer/director/co-writer/scripty/morale booster.

Crazy to think it’s been over 2 years since I had the opportunity to DP this project for @twill_happify showcasing photographer Anna Webber as we explored the role multiple sclerosis (MS) plays in her life at home and on set. I walked away from this project feeling grateful to have played a small role in bringing exposure to a chronic condition that often goes under the radar, and I’m hoping to pursue more meaningful, purpose-driven projects in the future!
