This year....I got the amazing honor to Emcee/Host the 4th annual Elmont Juneteenth Festival! . Serving the community in my hometown of Elmont on this day was special. And I'll never forget it. . Going thru the few pictures/video clips I had gave me chills. Thank you @cocodeecoco for coming thru! 🙏🏾 . Shoutout to @elmontjuneteenth , @elmontalumni , @chrysv.events , @elmontculturalcenter & countless others who worked behind the scenes to bring this event to life, and trusted me with this opportunity 🙏🏾. . In addition to hosting the festival, I also got the opportunity to share my poetry & music on stage and I'm thankful to the community, family & friends for supporting and rocking with me! The love was felt! 🙏🏾. . I wish I could tell ya I have everything figured out, but I'm just trusting God, and doing the things that are on my heart. #thinkwhys

It's been 3 years since I purchased/invested in my first home/real estate property. This was 1 of the best investments I've made in my life, but before I get into why, let me tell you what it took for me to get here..... I spent years living in my momma's basement(paying family discounted rent) saving up my coins to make this purchase. Shoutout to mom 🤞🏾 At first glance, this house was unimpressive to me. Why? It looked average/boring & the interior was outdated and needed renovations. Once I got past those initial reservations, I saw a vision. 1. It's in a prime location, that was rising in value 2. I could renovate it to fulfill the look/vision I had 3. It was setup perfectly to rent parts of the house & bring in add'l income So I went for it! And guess what? Within the 1st 2 months: - the boiler broke down and the basement flooded - the water heater broke down - walls & ceilings were falling apart All of which cost over 10K to repair which was not part of the plan/budget! Initially, it felt like a nightmare, but thankfully with some support, everything was fixed, renovated, and was starting to look like the vision I had in mind. Since then, - The home has gone up over 25% in value in 3 years! - I've been able to rent parts of the house for add'l income - I've been able to create lifelong memories! With that said, I'm very proud to be a homeowner, but I've learned a few life lessons along the way. - Just because I've accomplished a major goal in my life, it doesn't mean it will bring me long term happiness and/or things will go as I envisioned. - Hitting goals give you a temporary high, but it's the journey & purpose in your life that brings true fulfillment. - Don't stop dreaming and committing to goals that SCARE YOU! On the outside looking in, it can look like me(or anyone on the gram) is winning/killing in life. I promise you it's not as perfect or glamorous as it looks. Just know that your own story/journey is beautiful and significant. Look to each other for inspiration and encouragement. NOT COMPARISON. Create a vision for your life that provides purpose/fulfillment in the present, & plants seeds for the future. #thinkwhys

Back in Feb, I had the honor of sitting on the 1st "Building my Table" panel discussion organized by @organicchemistryproductions . . Sharing the stage with fellow entrepreneurs who are at different stages of their journey was enlightening and really highlighted how valuable it is to share, listen & learn. . Special thank you to @danielleolatty for opportunity to be apart of this intimate discussion to share my entrepreneurial journey.

Over the past year or so, I made it my mission to be apart of success bigger than myself. . Since 2023, I’ve attended every event @hucapitalco has had, and everytime, I leave better than how I came. . Why? Because their events are one of the few places I can go and be myself, and more importantly, connect with like-minded professionals & founders in EVERY INDUSTRY. . Tech, Finance, Medical, Beauty, Engineering, Wealth Management, and the list goes on and on. . Late last year, I ended up volunteering for their first annual “Men Deserve Flowers” event, and after a successful event, I joined the team in an official capacity. . As a “Business & Program Manager”, I was tasked to help grow & scale the @hucapitalco business with partnerships, sponsorships, & creating value for the amazing community of professionals & founders that attend our events. . I’m proud to say that so far this year, we had 2 successful events: 2 Year “HuLane Anniversary Mixer” & the “Winning Women’s Conference”. . There’s something so satisfying about planning events for months behind the scenes, and watching our community leave with the same smile I had everytime I left a HuCapital event. . Full. Circle. Moment. . This Thurs, July 17th(6pm - 10pm) we're back at it again with our last "HuLane" networking mixer until 2026. . Come out and meet some dope professionals, founders, creatives, and overall, some really cool people. . Link for tickets is in my bio. Or hit me directly for the link. . See you there!

Do people still write long captions under their posts? . Anyways... . I always find myself taking on new and ambitious endeavors....and so far, this year wasn't any different. . The problem is, it's a never ending cycle of: Start. Get overwhelmed. Stop. . I took multiple steps back from different things I was working on, or apart of, in order to reset. . And it definitely helped, but I found myself still struggling at baseline. . It was hard to focus, I was unmotivated, disconnected from friends/family, overwhelmed to answer text messages, and kept putting things off. . Honestly, it's still like this at times, but it's gotten MUCH BETTER. . I hate that I'm writing this, because I can find a post on my page at least once a year of me going thru the same DAMN Cycle. SMFH 🤦🏾‍♂️. . EMBARRASSING. . I wanted things to be different this time, so I did something I HATE DOING. . I asked for help. . I opened up to friends, family and even strangers to find a solution. . A meetup with my mentor changed things for me. . He told me he had similar challenges, and ultimately, went to see a psychiatrist. . I was hesitant, but I was desperate, so I followed suit. . 20 mins into the 60 min evaluation session, my psychiatrist didn't need anymore time to diagnose me with ADHD. . Getting a medical diagnosis didn't sit well with me...... But... There was part of me that was relieved, because I could finally get a resolution. . Last thing I wanted was to get prescribed medicine, but it felt impossible to get out my funk. . That was a turning point for me... and gradually... I progressed. . ......AND..... of course I started researching natural ways to get off the medication ASAP. 😅. . It has NOT BEEN a steady progression. I've been WAYYYYYYYYYY UP. And WAYYYYYYYYYY DOWN since then. . Overall, I'm in a MUCH BETTER place now. Despite the fact there's SO MUCH room to grow. . I have so much MORE to say/share.... . But I'll leave it at this... . I didn't know where I would end up, and I don't know where my journey will take me... . But I'm happy I took that first step.
