Something really lovely about being both the designer and one of the FIF organisers is to hear in person how much people enjoyed the branding ✏️ It took quite a few iterations and layouts to get the tone just right - contemporary and cool to grab the eyes of professionals and students, while also being fun and welcoming to hobbyists, teens and children ☀️eye catching and bold, but also able to be a backdrop to share other illustrators work on socials ✨ to look just as textured and inky digitally as it would printed 🖨️ To hear that I had hit the nail on the head was really rewarding, and how rare to have the opportunity to get into the nerdy nitty gritty of techniques, textures, colour theory and font design 🧚🏻
While I’ve worked across many creative projects, this was my first time doing event design. I loved the creative challenge and I really hope to do it again, so hmu if you are looking for some fun branding 📝
Also so cool that @thinkvisually used my font for their ‘Imaginary Folke’ live mural!

🎨✨I’m so excited to be part of the very first Folkestone Illustration Festival!
🎭 Saturday night: Catch me at The Draw Off — a live drawing event hosted by the amazing Funshine Club and Dyke Skinner. I’ll be sketching alongside some super talented illustrators (and yes… slightly terrified to draw in front of people 😅).
🛍️ Sunday: I’ll be at Kollectiv selling my prints at the illustration market. Perfect timing to start your Christmas shopping 🎁

Introducing Jess and Ollie of @thinkvisually to the @folkestoneillustrationfestival line up ✏️
Jess and Ollie are a local creative duo who use drawings to help people think & talk in pictures. You may have spotted them drawing at arts and culture gatherings – like the Folkestone Book Festival or bOing! Family Festival in Canterbury – where they create interactive, illustrated murals that capture ideas and audience feedback, live, as the events happen. Jess and Ollie are on an art mission to help everyone see themselves and each other in a bigger picture, to encourage participation and use art to help us all be included.
Their large illustrated mural from last year’s Folkestone Book Festival will be on display in Kollectiv for the festival weekend, and if you stop by the FIF Illustration Fair on Sunday 9th November, you can meet Jess & Ollie there, and contribute to a new mural they will be creating called ‘Imaginary Folke’ – all ages welcome!
