Notes on money and fashion.
Just a reminder that there's a lot of money in the industry. But the average person making the garments doesn't earn enough to afford necessities like a sick leave or quality food.

Time to reintroduce myself!
I haven't actually done it in years, literally.
I don't think any of these are controversial or anything, just a bit of nuanced opinions.
Would love to know what you think, so leave a comment!

When Maxime Edward went to the Philippines for the first time in May 2025, he didn't know what that trip would mean to him. He didn't have a list of questions but an itinerary that led him to Filipino artisans. He travelled by car more than 12 hours, took tricycle rides, hopped on a jeepney, crossed the islands on a plane...to meet the guardians of a weaving tradition. What they have woven by hand, which took several days to finish, will now take the spotlight of a catwalk performance on June 6 at La Bellone in Brussels.
We have very limited seats on this show so book early and be part of this meaningful project. For tickets, click the link on our bio.

How does it feel like to go back to the place that heard your first cry. Full of apprehensions before his flight to Manila, Maxime Edward tried to convince himself he was ready for this trip. But fear and anticipation slowly crept in. He just hoped he would find signs that will tell him "you are part of this place"
Blue skies, small rain the evenings, cakes in every stop, people he didn't know...embraced him. Welcome to the Philippines!
This place, not so unfamiliar anymore, will inspire him in his creative work. Since then, he has been busy in this roller coaster self-discovery ride where rolls of cloths will comfort him...something that he wants to share in a fashion show on June 6 at La Bellone.

After thirty plus years, Maxime Edward returns to his birth country, the Philippines. He never planned to but it seemed that this journey was laid on his feet and he couldn't refuse to take that first step. It was time...
Maxime's journey culminates in a fashion show in June 6 at La Bellone. Click on the link on our bio for tickets and witness this journey come to life on the catwalk.

So grateful for the support of Fashion Revolution Belgium and Thinking Threads for our fashion show "Roots and Weaves" this coming June 6 at La Bellone in Brussels.
In this show, we have the 2026 couture collection of Belgian designer Maxime Edward who is using for the first time, Philippine heritage textiles, handwoven from weaving tribes and communities of the archipelago that he had the chance to visit last year.
Let's bring your attention to this traditional craft that we want to promote, preserve and share.
Special shout out to Tena Lavrencic, ethical fashion activist, spokesperson and events organiser for helping us out in this meaningful project

No, I'm not suddenly pro ultra rich.
Why I follow Met Gala despite acknowledging (and mostly agreeing) with criticism is for the beauty of the craft in fashion.
Many of the dresses we see take some of the best talents today and hundreds of hours to finish.
But craft exists away from the fancy events too. Designers like @maximeedward_ prove that.
I'm honoured to work on his next fashion show!

What is a celebration without bubbles?
We are delighted to announce that Champagne Florence Duchêne is our official partner for Roots and Weaves, a fashion show celebrating Philippine indigenous textiles with Belgian designer Maxime Edward this June 6 at La Bellone.
Florence Duchêne runs her family-owned vineyards in Cumières, in the Champagne region of France. Proud of both her French roots and Filipino heritage, she beautifully bridges these cultures through her work. So deep is this connection that she has named her cuvées Anak, Kalikasan, and Bathala—each reflecting a story and identity close to her heart. Her bottles are highly regarded by her peers, and she stands out as one of the very few women viticulturists in the region.
Florence and Maxime share a profound love for the Philippines. While Florence’s connection is rooted in heritage, Maxime’s journey is one of discovery—having been adopted, he reconnects with his birth country through fashion.
On June 6, he brings these stories to life on a European runway, honoring his Filipino roots and weaving these two cultures in a fashion event you don't want to miss.

April is always a mix of Fashion Revolution week & spring.
And it's a good mix.
Thank you to everyone who organised events with me, attended, shared, and supported in other ways.
We are building this slow fashion community together.
Now, moving on to next very exciting projects ✨
