March 2026 in 60 seconds!!
We had three incredible exhibitions open this month!! We had our off-site exhibition Arts for Equity at 235 Water Street, in the Main Gallery we had Queer Newfoundland Hockey League by Lucas Morneau, and in the rOGUE we had (DE)COMPOSING by Bethany MacKenzie.
We deinstalled the Arts for Equity exhibition earlier this month and packed all of the art up to ship back to artists across the province.
We tabled at the Building Creative Careers event with the Association for New Canadians.
We hosted a second workshop with our artist-in-residence Sun Forest! We had so much fun getting goopy and messy with bio materials! During her residency Sun created some beautiful bio material fabrics that will be used to create a cloaking device for future art performances.
Before she left, Sun hosted a biomaterials session for the EE staff, where we created a colourful fabric sheet incorporating all of the bio material processes that we have learned throughout Sun’s workshops.
The team celebrated Eid and said goodbye to Sun with some tasty treats in the studio!
And we finished the month by deinstalling Lucas and Bethany’s work in the gallery.
Stay tuned for new exhibitions, workshops, and a new artist in residence coming in April!!

🏒✨ Et si le hockey devenait drag?
Vernissage
📅 Jeudi 9 avril, 17h–20h
📍 La Centrale (4296 Boul. Saint-Laurent)

🏒✨ What if hockey became drag?
Opening
📅 Thursday April 9, 5–8 pm
📍 La Centrale (4296 Saint-Laurent Blvd.)
🗓 Exhibition from April 9 to May 23, 2026
A queer, inclusive and flamboyant hockey league is arriving in Montreal.
With Queer Newfoundland Hockey League, artist Lucas Morneau transforms the imagery of hockey into a queer drag playground. Presented at La Centrale as part of its Canadian tour, the exhibition humorously overturns the male hegemony and homophobia embedded in sports culture.
Through textiles, photography and sculpture, the exhibition celebrates an exuberant and expansive queer masculinity.
🥅 Join us to launch the exhibition and meet the artist.
Lucas Morneau (they/he) is an interdisciplinary artist and curator from Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland). Using drag as a central tool, their work explores gender performativity and challenges patriarchal and heteronormative systems.
