I’ve been screaming with joy when encountering @hultzbanana for awhile now, and am continuing to joyfully scream through our collaborative and individual art in this upcoming exhibition @seesaw.artgallery (shoutout to Hayley and her support!!) . . What smells trigger a memory? Influenced by ideas like simulation theory, the Mandela Effect, and the tendency of nostalgia to dilute, this exhibition explores these and other themes through sculpture, drawing, and performative lens-based work. Details over time, pixelating images, replaced settings; like looking at a painting you’ve seen before but it’s never the same as the first time. The artists reflect—both collectively and individually—on memory’s distortions and its role in constructing personal mythologies. Curated by @julioaalejandro Image credit: Max Pastor (a randomly encountered photographer we met at Paint Mines) . . . Gallery hours: Monday-Fri, 10am-4pm Performance tix available at seesawgallery.com

Hi friends I'm curating a exhibition @seesaw.artgallery opening May 8th. Hope y'all can join us. The title of the show is " I smelled the rainbow, it was a delicious perfume" a two person show feat @hultzbanana and @thenowfuture . Seeing Apple and Dani have fun making things for this show let's me know it will be a good one. Also proud of Dani for growing so much as a artist since we met in 2019 and apple for being brave to create and be themselves in this world. See y'all next month @seesaw.artgallery

Tonight!! I am woefully late to promote but excited to share works by old and new friends from Denver as part of @thefrontnola 's exchange program. Opens tonight 6-10 in conjunction with fellow cowboys from @tugboatgallery in Lincoln Nebraska and local creole cowboy @lovebenoir . Thin Air is the first show in an exchange between The Front and Dateline Gallery (@ddaatteelliinnee ) and the Temple Contemporary Artist Haven (@thetempledenver ), both based in Denver, Colorado. For this show Front member Taylor Balkissoon invited Dateline’s assistant curator, Jonas Sanchez, and Temple resident artist Dani/elle Cunningham to partner in curating works by an eclectic group of artists based in and outside of these DIY spaces. The show features drawings, paintings, collages and videos that are reflective of each curator’s sensibilities and their approaches to the esoteric, existential concerns of the new American West. Each artist will choose a percentage of sales to donate to Front member @carl_harrisonjr 's community garden and beekeeping projects. See you tonight!! 🤠

“cosmOSis appletOSis” is a short sci-fi fantasy proto AI takeover film exploring fear of and attraction to the physical hardware and operating systems of computer technology. I am so pleased to be showing this 6-minute film and self-composed score at one of my favorite Denver art spaces @ifoundleon as part of @fromkierawithlove ‘s exhibition “Protocols of Desire”. Open through Jan. 3. Resisting the sometimes isolation of modern tech, this was a collaborative project with support from: @julioaalejandro @fizgiggly : camera operation @uhh_lis_uhh : dressmaker @stuartmsachs : apple helmet fabrication @justbridget @fouhy irreplaceable prop support

Public urination: crime, communion, performance art. Call it rebellion, call it necessity, call it ✨liquid liberation✨. Society may ticket, shame, or pretend women don’t pee, but sometimes the alley is the only sanctuary. And honestly? The geese are harsher critics than the cops. 🚽✨🐦 #LetUsPee

Sunday’s second serving is loud, glittering, and unapologetically extra. In On Being Too Much, Dani dives into the weaponization of too muchness, the history of unruly women, and the joy of living on the verge of madness. Sequins included. If you’ve ever been called too loud, too weird, too emotional, too opinionated—this one’s for you. Now streaming on the GIRL BOOK Substack. #TooMuchIsJustEnough #GirlBookSundays #LouderMessierHotter

“…our entire existence, including our freedoms and unfreedoms, is built upon a ‘we’ instead of an ‘I,’ that we are dependent upon each other, as well as upon nonhuman forces that exceed our understanding or control.” . . .
