very happy to have received a second award from @gdusa magazine; this one for the @moworkers center website redesign. this site also won an aiga kc award earlier this year. woohoo! big thanks to @anxhelolushka for all of the great development work and to @jjalhaj and @gimmethedeetz for trusting me with this project. a few notes on the design: • worked closely iwth mwc to ensure clear navigation and content areas across the site. • a video opener by @stevehebert and huge hero photos on all sections emphasize the people-first, multi-racial, action-oriented movement they are actively building. • large headline type transitions viewers into the writing, adding additonal dynamic elements on each page, including a few subtle parallax scrolling moments. • customized drop-down menus for the press section make online article browsing fast and easy by year and month. proud to be working with these fine folks to support workers of all stripes across missouri! #politicaldesign #socialdesign #socialdesigner #designforgood #webdesign #webdesigner #mobiledesign #gdusa #union

very excited to announce that the @athenaforall brand extension project was recognized by @gdusa magazine. this is the second award for this project, and @ac.by.design and i are honored to have great collaborators on this one. athena came to us with only a logo and two colors as their identity elements. after some research and competitive analysis, we created some attributes, logo usage ideas, an extended color palette, selected a robust type family, and assembled a cheeky image library using craphound magazine. next, we got to work designing a wide range of templates based on categories of posts that athena wanted to make – image-only with the logo, quotes, explainers, event listings, etc. the brand guide brings it all together, showing all of the identity elements and how the posts function to achieve the attributes. athena has done a fantastic job with their post designs [last 4 images]. follow @athenaforall to learn more about how amazon and other tech companies are detrimental to a healthy society on so many fronts. #politicaldesign #socialdesign #designforgood #socialmediadesign #craphound #gdusa

A20, hosted by the Kansas City chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (@aigakc ), celebrates outstanding creativity, innovation, and craftsmanship across design disciplines—from branding and illustration to digital and experiential design. The event highlights regional talent and emerging designers while strengthening the local creative community. This year’s branding for the 20th anniversary was created by students in @kcaigraphicdesign . The original concept came from Amanda Michael / @amandamichael38 , Malachi Mitchell / @malachimitchell.design , Olivia Steffano / @oli.steff , and Maddy Dreyer / @maddy_dreyer . Once AIGA KC selected their direction, the full class of 10 students helped bring the final vision to life. Brittany Alkhatib / @bhandzmakerdance , Chair of AIGA KC’s Gala and Competition Committee, called the color palette—bold reds, blues, and pinks—“tricky, but they made it work.” She praised the tactile feel of the design, noting that some elements were paper cutouts made by hand, then scanned and digitized. The theme for A20 is “Heart and Soul,” with the event set at the @zhoubartcenterkc in the historic Jazz District. Students drew inspiration from the neighborhood’s cultural energy and even incorporated shapes evoking instruments and design tools. Chandler Johnson / @kalimizzou , AIGA KC President, likened the design to the Monsters, Inc. opening credits—“eclectic, vibrant, with old-school charm.” He added, “The design has an improvisational, electric quality—like a jazz solo. A perfect metaphor for creativity in design.” tyler galloway / @thenewprogramme , Joyce C. Hall Chair of Graphic Design at KCAI, called the collaboration a “rare opportunity to do a dream project”—creating a visual identity for a design contest, for other designers. @aigakc encourages students and freelancers to enter A20 calling entry fees affordable for students - check their bio for details. #kcai #kansascityartinstitute #designawards #graphicdesign #branding #digitaldesign #experientialdesign #studentdesigners #emergingdesigners #creativity #innovation #heartandsoul #jazzdistrict #kansascity
