- リッチ・ジェイコブス (1972年生まれ) 現在ニューヨークのブルックリンを拠点に活動するアメリカ人アーティスト、キュレーターです。 これまで、アメリカ、ヨーロッパ、オーストラリ ア、ニュージーランド、日本で展覧会を開催してきました。 2008年、彼の作品「Minor Threat Family Tree」は、カナダのロンドン・オンタリオ・ライブ・アー ト・フェスティバルで、他の作品とともに大きく紹介されました。グラフィティ、サイケデリック、フォーク・アートにインスパイアされたジェイコブスの生々しくカラフルな作品は、雑誌、書籍、CDやLPのジャケット(ソルトレイクシティを拠点とするグループ、アイスバーンのほとんどのアルバムを含む)、靴、アパレル(パーカー、スカート、ドレスなど)、スケートボード、建物、枕など、幅広い素材に頻繁に描かれています。 Rich Jacobs Rich Jacobs (born 1972 in Long Beach, California) is an American artist and curator who currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Jacobs has exhibited in the United States, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. In 2008, his work Minor Threat Family Tree was featured prominently along with other works of his at the London Ontario Live Arts Festival in Canada. Inspired by graffiti, psychedelic and folk art, Jacobs' raw, colorful work frequently appears on a broad range of materials such as magazines, books, CD and LP covers (including most of the albums for the Salt Lake City-based group Iceburn), footwear, apparel (such as parkas, skirts and dresses), skateboards, buildings and pillows. - レイモンド・レムストラ(1978年生まれ) オランダ・フローニンゲン出身のアーティストです。彼の作品制作の基盤は細密で複雑なドローイ ングを紙に描くことに始まり、2015年のソモでの滞在制作中に絵画へと移行していきました。 最近では韓国・ソウルへ定住して以来、絵画の追求と並行してドローイングへのコミットメントを再度活性化しています。 レムストラのグラファイト・ドローイングでは、架空の人物を描いており、具象と抽象の調和を探究し続けています。 彼の絵画では、一目でそれとわかる厳密な幾何学的言語を用いることによる様式化を強調し、視覚的に生命を認識しようとする潜在的な人間の衝動を遊び心を持ちながら探究しています。 抽象的で、しばしば幾何学的なフォルムと並行して服装や髪型など、非常に認識しやすく、丹念にレンダリングされた特徴を用いることによって、鑑賞者へ人工的な形の中にある感情的な共鳴を知覚するよう促します。 レムストラは、子供の絵に見られるアプローチを彷彿とさせ、重要ではない部分は最小限に抑え、省略をすることで、特定の要素に注意を向けさせます。 Raymond Lemstra Raymond Lemstra (b. 1978, Groningen, The Netherlands) graduated from the Academie Minerva in 2004 before relocating to Amsterdam the following year. The foundation of his artistic practice lies in creating detailed, intricate drawings on paper. These works catalyzed his transition to painting, which became a focal point during a residency in Somo, Spain, in 2015. More recently, since settling in Seoul, South Korea, Lemstra has reinvigorated his commitment to drawing, alongside his pursuit of painting. Lemstra's graphite drawings depict fictional characters where real- life traits intertwine with abstracted features, enabling an exploration of harmony between figuration and abstraction. In his paintings, he further emphasizes stylization by employing a rigorous geometric language that elicits instant recognition, revealing a prominent facet of his practice: a playful exploration of the human urge to visually recognize life. Initiating from our inherently facially-oriented perception (Pareidolia), which often leads to the interpretation of inanimate objects or random geometric arrangements as if they are looking back at us, Lemstra deeply engages in reconfiguring the relationships between the key elements of his imaginary subjects. Through his abstract oil and acrylic paintings, Phillips plays with colors, forms and volumes—the building blocks of our artistic experience—to create dynamic and shifting spatial relationships. Matt is also a critic, curator and professor of art at FIT in New York City. In the recent interview “The Spacetime of Fine Art” for Nautilus, the artist talked about his work. ”In my own paintings, I try to hold and release time for the viewer. Many of my works have no preconceived image or preliminary drawings. Instead, I just begin working directly on a canvas. Then, by adjusting the composition, revising color, painting over and correcting, a painting begins to tighten its orbit around a subject. This process mirrors music composition, in which disparate notes are found, revised and placed into sequence until they create tension and resonance”.
