My new album “Son of the San Lorenzo” is out now. I set out to make something different than I’d ever done before and to challenge myself in both my songwriting and production skills. I wanted to get back to my roots sonically and make a record that sounded like my interpretation of the music I was raised on; country and folk influenced rock & roll. Each of these songs are a window into my mind, illustrating moments of my story and the story of others I’ve known. I feel that by listening to this album, the listener will be able to know me better as an artist. The themes are personal, reflective, honest, nostalgic, loving, mournful, observant and triumphant. They have a natural focus and evoke scenes of the thickly wooded mountain landscape I was raised in. I poured more of myself into this collection than I ever had done before and I hope you get something nourishing from it. For better or worse, blessing or curse, I’m a Son of the San Lorenzo.

I’ve always have such an incredible time touring Europe. The crowds we encounter there make the extensive travel from the United States well worth it. Years ago I realized just how tuned in to country music those folks were and since then they have always welcomed me with open arms. Had one of those river days that sticks with you. Spent it with an up-and-coming country musician and a friend from my hometown—someone who came up in the same community, @thejessedaniel even if we didn’t cross paths until later on.
It’s a good feeling connecting over shared roots, trading stories, and spending time on the water. Days like that remind you how small the world can be and how strong those hometown ties run.
