This week’s soundtrack belongs on the open road 🎶 @ryanbinghamofficial - ‘They Call Us The Lucky Ones’ Loose, lived-in Americana elevated by the chemistry of The Texas Gentlemen, tracing drifters, chosen family, and the ghosts we carry. @graciepotter - “Love Me Not” Big vocals, a warm, wide-open sound, and a current of emotional static beneath the shine. Pre-order ‘Trespasser’ now ahead of its 8/21 release. @mountaingoatsmusic - “Charlie Sheen Reaches Out to the Feds” Propulsive indie rock built on humor, paranoia, and pop culture debris. From ‘Days’, available for pre-order now ahead of its 8/7 release. @cassidydanielsmusic - “Heart Shaped Necklace” Southern grit and breathless devotion, where depth outweighs display. @s.g.goodman - ‘(Re) Planting by the Signs’ Earthbound folk shaped by memory and ritual, expanded with new versions and collaborations, featuring Tyler Childers and Senora May. @wadebowen - “Rain” Slow-burning country sorrow delivered with clarity and restraint, ahead of ‘The Version Of Me You Get’ out 9/25. @the_boxmasters_official - “Light A Candle” Lush arrangements and breezy West Coast textures inspired by time spent in Morro Bay. Another glimpse into ‘In The Bay,’ arriving 6/12. A mix of wide-open Americana, jangling indie rock, Southern grit, cosmic country, and songs built for long drives after dark. Dive in wherever you listen.

New music worth sitting with this week 🎧 ‘The Me That Remains’ – Amy Grant returns with her first album of new material in over a decade, leaning into an earthy Americana sound shaped by producer Mac McAnally. Written in the wake of major health struggles and personal reflection, the record moves through questions of faith, mortality, connection, and resilience with a calm, clear-eyed grace that feels deeply human and gently resolute. ‘Ledbetter Heights (30th Anniversary Sessions)’ – Kenny Wayne Shepherd revisits the album that introduced his fiery blend of blues and southern rock to mainstream audiences. These re-recordings trade youthful flash for something more lived-in, bringing new weight to songs that still hit with force. “Freaking Out” – Michigander balances spiraling thoughts with soaring hooks here, turning existential exhaustion into something unexpectedly uplifting. As the first single from the upcoming album ‘Over Before You Know It,’ the track leans into the messiness of growing up and learning to live with uncertainty, capturing the tension between anxiety and acceptance with an anthemic indie-rock glow. The album is available for preorder now ahead of its July 31 release. “Evil Creature” – Madeline Edwards transforms emotional contradiction into something raw and quietly cathartic, pairing stripped-back acoustic arrangements with some of her sharpest writing yet. The track opens the door to ‘Low Hanging Fruit,’ arriving September 2026. “On My Own” – Bedouine reflects on the quiet rupture between childhood belonging and adult distance, inspired by a visit back to family in Saudi Arabia. Built on soft, minimal arrangements and her unmistakably comforting vocal presence, it lingers in the emotional space between where you were shaped and where you’re still trying to understand yourself. “Delta Dawn” – Sunny Sweeney breathes new life into the Tanya Tucker classic with reverence and warmth. With Charlie McCoy—who played on the original recording—rejoining on harmonica, the song links its origins to the moment it lives in now, further expanded when Tanya Tucker herself surprised Sunny onstage at the Grand Ole Opry.

New Music Friday is here! ‘The Sound of Roses’ – Muscadine Bloodline revisit their catalog with a sense of gratitude, recasting standout love songs in understated, orchestral arrangements. The performances feel close and intentional, as if written for the rooms and moments they now live in. ‘Time’ – Taj Mahal settles into a deep, unhurried groove with the Phantom Blues Band, moving through blues, soul, and island rhythms with an ease that only comes from decades of shared language. The groove does the talking, with every note placed by feel rather than force. “Redneck Shit” – Gretchen Wilson returns to the spirit that first defined her, doubling down on grit, humor, and unfiltered pride. It’s a boot-stompin’, beer-slingin’ anthem that feels both classic and freshly defiant, delivered with the same raw energy that made her a voice for blue-collar country. “Shoot Me Straight” – Joshua Ray Walker leans into stark honesty, pairing his vivid, character-driven writing with a deeper sense of vulnerability. The delivery is anything but heavy-handed, riding an upbeat, full-band energy that gives the song a sense of motion and resilience. “Llora” – Cimafunk y La Tribu soften their funk-forward edge here, leaning into a more melodic, tender sound. The track still carries their signature live-band chemistry, but with a warmer, more reflective tone that lets the song breathe in a different emotional register. ‘These Days’ – Kindred Valley trace the growing pains of adulthood with a homespun, clear-eyed warmth. Their indie folk sensibility leans into reflection without losing momentum, finding meaning in the space between expectation and reality. ‘Chill’s Spotlight 7’ – Chill’s Spotlight arrives with the “lost” chapter in the Spotlight series, surfacing with a sharp, hip-hop sound. The project carries a sense of rediscovery, anchored by a rare Lupe Fiasco vault cut, “Crash Out,” alongside contributions from T.D.K., Billy Blue, Verse, and Jus Ray, each adding distinct texture to the mix.

Your weekend soundtrack awaits! ‘Romaticize the Dive’ – Metric return with a record that feels both like a time capsule and a forward charge, reconnecting with the urgency and independence that defined their early years. Sharp guitars, breathless synths, and Emily Haines’ unmistakable voice carry songs that balance nostalgia with clarity, tracing the throughline of a band that’s never stopped pushing itself. ‘Lost Cause Lover Fool’ – The Milk Carton Kids lean further into quietude, crafting songs that ask for stillness and attention. Their signature harmonies hover over delicate arrangements, turning small, passing moments into something weighty and universal. “When I’m Stoned” – Shooter Jennings and Willie Nelson revisit a Jason Boland & The Stragglers staple with a version that feels loose, lived-in, and quietly devastating. The groove drifts with outlaw ease, letting Nelson’s phrasing and Jennings’ grit reshape the song into something both timeless and newly intimate. “Blue Skies” – Ryan Bingham delivers a road-worn, open-hearted single. Dusty and soulful, it comes alive with the chemistry of a band playing together in the same room. “My Hollywood” – Everlast reflects on a life shaped by chaos and resilience, blending acoustic grit with hip-hop DNA into something honest and wry. This track carries a wry honesty about success, survival, and the strange gravity of the spotlight. Pre-order his new album, ‘Embers to Ashes’, out 8/28. “My Epitaph” – Renée Fleming and Béla Fleck meet at the intersection of classical precision and Appalachian tradition, weaving voice and banjo into something reverent and expansive. “Wrong Things” – Common Tribe bends country through blues and hip-hop instincts, delivering a grounded, confessional look at good intentions gone sideways. Pre-order ‘Whiskey For The Moon’, out 7/17. “Don’t Count The Days” – The Boxmasters channel sun-faded California pop and classic rock into something reflective, textured, and quietly nostalgic. Pre-order ‘In The Bay’, coming out 6/12. ‘Music Lesson H1’ – thankugoodsir offers a deeply personal, spiritual work. Full of gospel-rooted sounds reframed through a broader, contemplative lens.
