We were honored to be represented in the 2024 @KIDSCREEN summit in San Diego in a panel with valuable individuals from all over, including Dr. Rosemarie Truglio (Senior Vice President of Curriculum & Content for @sesameworkshop ) Cathlin Goulding (Co-Director of @yuri_education ) and Megan Townsend (@meg_townsend , Senior Director Entertainment Research & Analysis at @glaad ) and of course, our CEO @julesdameron (who directed the 16 ASL videos for Sesame Street) — we were part of a panel covering vital topics such as how we could better approach Asian Pacific Islander representation, LGBTQ+ representation & Deaf / Hard of Hearing representation! Deaf Spotlight will present their biennial Short Play Festival featuring six new stories by Deaf playwrights from all over the United States.
The virtual festival will take place virtually April 9 - 11, 2021. During the weekend, six short plays written by Deaf artists and starring Deaf actors will be available as short films on demand along with live stream panels. The plays will be performed in American Sign Language with English captions to ensure accessibility for all audiences. The plays will be directed by acclaimed Deaf thespians Michelle Banks, Joshua Castille, Seth Gore, Dickie Hearts, Aarron Loggins and Alexandria Wailes.
With your ticket, you can view these plays ANYTIME between April 9-11, 2021 Pacific Time from your home. Your ticket is not assigned to a specific day or time.

From Small Town to Broadway: Joshua Castille's Story
@castillejoshua was a Deaf boy growing up in a small town in Louisiana. On his 21st birthday, when he finished work, he realized... He wasn't in Louisiana anymore! He was performing on a Broadway stage. He had gone from a "Small Town to Broadway."
This show is an hour and a half of stand-up comedy, musical performances, and motivational messages. Josh shares the tools he picked up and the messages he learned from people along the way.
The show, directed by @julesdameron , will be performed live with voice interpreting via Zoom and is good for audiences 13 year old and up. Please email [email protected] for class and school discount rates.
