stratus is an event series dedicated to soundsystem music outside of club spaces :: music for listening, for gathering, for absorbing, for diving into.
we’re hosting two dear friends from across the bay: Oakland artists–producers–DJs Wonja & DJML, aka Motoko & Myers, an alias the pair have used on releases from Cone Shape Top, Soda Gong, Future Times, and Bass Clef’s Open Hand Real Flames. besides their production work, the two operate a long-running show on Lower Grand Radio called Do/While, showcasing far-out sounds from all over the globe. we’re thrilled to have them as stratus guests and can’t wait to dive deep into their selections.
as always, we ask that guests keep voices and conversation to a minimum inside the main gallery, and please be mindful of space when sitting or lying down. we’re cultivating space for intentional listening. thank you for journeying with us!

Stunning ikebana arrangements by Wonja were on display and beautiful presentation of wax sculptures, foraged acacia, jellies and collaborative bites from C&C (@nightshallot@catlauigan ) with wine by Etteilla @etteilla.wines Shot out to Dresher Ensemble (Paul, Ian, Robert) space for hosting us, Jon for running sound, to Nick and Masha @sonic_re_ducer for door support and to Time for helping us breakdown @emit__time 🤍

We’re very happy to welcome Later Version back to the series. The Oakland-based duo, DJML and Jerod S Rivera, reunite for Aerial View - a delightfully dubbed, low-tempo slice of drum machine funk and living, breathing synth groove.
Oakland is a city we’ve felt closely connected to for many years through artists like Space Ghost and ABUNAI, so it feels especially right to have Later Version representing that lineage on this compilation.
Warm, purring and effortlessly locked in, Aerial View drifts between dub, downtempo and late-night electronics - music that moves slowly but stays deep in the pocket.

Seamstress Clock Remixes on CST Imprint
In early 2025, Oakland-based artist Jerod S. Rivera released his second full-length project, Dot-Dash, featuring a collaboration with Cat Lauigan. From there, Rivera and CST reached out to friends across different scenes and cities, shaping those connections into a remix 12”.
The mysterious dub/techno/leftfield mastermind behind False Aralia dives further into territory explored on iri.gram, uptempo and dancefloor-ready in a more maximal Perlon-ish way while still embracing a half-time dub feel. Philipp Otterbach (Music from Memory, Offen, RIO) goes deeper into the guitar zone he’s been exploring, channeling Earth 2, Boris, and the like for some heavy drone. Oakland duo DJ ML and Wonja adopt their Motoko & Myers moniker (Future Times, Soda Gong), zeroing in on some choice vocal snippets that mesh perfectly with a live drum break and bassline for a Seefeel-esque version that could have come from a 90’s UK studio. Slowfoam embraces the more experimental elements of the original with a remix that starts sparse and minimal but builds into a glitchy rhythmic climax. The release is rounded out with a bonus remix from Jon Carr, unleashing heavy, industrial-sludge rhythms.
