Out now! Following on from his debut album, Miles Spilsbury returns to New Dawn with Spirit Level. A new project in collaboration with close friend Gorse Panshawe (formerly known as Slugabed - who also produced Miles Spilsbury’s first album Light Manoeuvres).
Recorded over one weekend in a weaving shed in Frome, in the English countryside. Surrounded by reels of yarn, they explored saxophones, flutes, dusty old keyboards & drum machines. The resulting record conjures the murk and moss of Forestland and grounds with grooves from the Bongo setting on a Casio keyboard. Jake Long added mallet drums from his London studio to round off the album.
We take a look back at Soichi Terada’s ‘Sounds From The Far East’ compilation as well as his early career and the journey that led to the release - over 10 years since the project (compiled by Hunee) was released!
The new version of ‘Sounds From The Far East’ with OBI and printed inner sleeves is now back in stock and available via the usual places!

Out now on our RSS series, a lost hit by the British composer Kevan Frost, now championed and given a brand-new Dub Mix by Mark Grusane.
Frost grew up in Jos, Nigeria where he became a self-taught musician and developed a deep understanding of rhythm and melody. In the 90’s, Frost was a session musician for many studios in London, one of these was unable to pay him so they gave him a few free days in the studio and the result was “Give It Up”.
A friend of Mark Grusane’s came across the mysterious record in Brooklyn at the African Record Centre and it eventually ended up in Mark’s hands and from there he edited the original track to a more stripped-back dub mix.
Now fully licensed, reissued and available for all to enjoy!
How it started. Our Sunday afternoon affair somewhere in Amsterdam. Love to all of you who showed up with a smile. Thank you Iso for the space, Nessies with the food, Kikuno with the sound and the dj’s Errol, Alex Rita, Suze Ijó, Sammseed and Kaidi Tatham with the tunes. Happy 10 year anniverary Touching Bass. Let’s do it again!
In anticipation of tomorrow’s party, we would like to share the food options. Nessies, known for her delicious Moluccan catering, will be serving food from the start of the party until she runs out. There will be Pangsit Goreng and Nasi Pecel, available in both vegan and non-vegan options.
We highly recommend tasting her food, so come early, grab a bite, and enjoy the music. ❤️
Ahead of our party this Sunday, we take a dive into the world of Touching Bass over on our Substack!
Over the last 10 years Errol and Alex Rita have established themselves at the forefront of culture in the UK and beyond as a NTS Radio staple, award-nominated record label, concert series at The Barbican and curatorial studio.
We are looking forward to joining them on their TB10 world tour alongside Kaidi Tatham, Suze Ijó and fellow Touching Bass resident Samsseed.
